Ella Fitzgerald - That Old Black Magic Lyrics
That old black magic's got me in its spell
That old black magic that you weave so well
Those icy fingers
Up and down my spine
The same old witchcraft when your eyes meet mine
The same old tingle that I feel inside
And when that elevator starts its ride
Darling down and down I go, round and round I go
Like a leaf that's
caught in the tide
I should stay away but what can I do
I hear your name, and I'm aflame
Aflame with
such a burning desire
You're the lover
You're the lover
You're the lover
You're the lover
I have waited for
The mate that fate had me created for
And everytime your lips meet mine
Darling down and down I go,
Round and Round I go
In a spin, I'm loving the spin that I'm in
I'm Under that old black magic called love
Yes I'm in a spin, I'm loving the spin I'm in
I'm under that old black magic called love
Got me spinning and spinning and spinning around
Like an elevator's going down
In this magic, black magic called love

I love Ella
Gracias me salvaste esta canción era una tarea
everything Ella sings becomes a standard
Amazing womanly voice. Her voice was easier than Josephine Baker's deep voice to imitate, and represented the spectrum of how female Black genius indelibly coloured the way White women learned to sing in modernity. Every White American female Hollywood star of the 40s 50s and 60s wanted to sound like Ella. So much so, that when you play an Ella song to a hipster audience, they often ask if it is some White female artist, without realising the actual seeing the person from which that silky vice emanated. GOD OUIJA gave magic to the lowly and the humble. It's more fun down there. Lol.
Perceptive comment. Ella's influence was a white singer, Dolly Dawn https://gregpoppleton.wordpress.com/2019/08/11/dolly-dawn-inspiration-for-ella-fitzgerald-13-august-2019-phantom-dancer/
Pure ❤️ 🤘🏽
that is so cool.
The queen of jazz!!!
Don't call it superstition, say instead "That Old Black Magic Called love"
Slow down, you're going too fast
Amazing !
The intro was invented from this orchestra or is it in some other records from other artistes?
I'm pretty certain this was an arrangement done specifically for Ms. Fitzgerald. I've not heard it other recordings with other artists. The Sarah Vaughan recording of this chart is also pretty great.
Merci Blacksad
You've reached this exactly the same way as I have done ;) I love Blacksad and Ella Fitzgerald.
Red soul
Oh yes <3
Yeah, bro

This is from her unforgettable concert in Berlin (1960).
