Ella Fitzgerald - Old Devil Moon Lyrics

I look at you and suddenly something in your eyes I see
Soon begins bewitching me
It's that old devil moon that you stole from the skies
It's that old devil moon in your eyes
You and your glance make this romance too hot to handle
Stars in the night blazing their light can't hold a candle

To your razzle-dazzle
You've got me flyin' high and wide on a magic carpet ride
Full of butterflies inside

Want to cry, want to croon, want to laugh like a loon
It's that old devil moon in your eyes
Just when I think I'm free as a dove
Old devil moon, deep in your eyes, blinds me with love

To your razzle-dazzle
You've got me flyin' high and wide on a magic carpet ride
Full of butterflies inside

Want to cry, want to croon, want to laugh like a loon
It's that old devil moon in your eyes
Just when I think I'm free as a dove
Old devil moon, deep in your eyes, blinds me with love

  2. J.... C....

Is it Ella?? Doesn't sound like her...

  3. T.... ....

The greatest female jazz vocalist of them all!

  4. h.... ....

What she does with this is a testament to the freedom within jazz. They just don't do it like this anymore. Too many rules and no one is willing to take the risk and have the talent to pull it off. Or do they ?

  5. K.... T....

  8. Z.... ....

Brilliant, as ever with Ella. She is the very best. Just listening to this rendition of the classic is a voice lesson in itself.

  9. M.... G....

I like Ella Fitzgerald and all but no one outdoes Judy Garland

    M.... G....

I like Judy, but nobody replaces Ella!

    M.... G....

LOVE Ella (GOAT Female vox? Certainly in very small handful), & Like Judy, but no one KILLS this one like Anita O'Day.

    M.... G....

I have studied all of their versions and I have to agree that Anita inspires me the most. Her phrasing is unique!

    M.... G....

I like Anita, but she can't come close to Ella.

    M.... G....

    Not even close to Ella!

  10. M.... N....

THE greatest female vocalist of all time. Listen & learn ladies.

I loved her voice until she strayed of the melody and got jazzy.  It was beautiful most of the time,  but as an amateur songwriter,   I don't want anybody to mess up my songs and replace them with their own new notes. If the artist improves the original song by jazzing it up, that's all well and good but usually they can't improve the songwriter's version and they absolutely ruin it!   If they could improve the songwriter's work, then their occupation would be songwriters, not singers!    A prime example is the church song 'Amazing Grace'!  Some artists absolutely ruin it!  This beautiful hymn should be sung simply and beautifully not scattered all over the musical scale!

How can anyone be a "non admirer" of Ella Fitzgerald? Unbelievable.

    b.... b....

It is all relative. Fitzgerald has no surprises for me. I know before she opens up her mouth what she's gonna do. With Billie Holiday, for example, you can never guess.

    b.... b....

True. I prefer Chet's version better.

    b.... b....

You should be so honored to have someone of the caliber of Ella Fitzgerald to sing one of your songs.

she strayed?! Really?! And I wonder just who have sung any of the stuff you've written. You are definitely an amateur.

  12. C.... B....

Who the hell disliked this version.

    C.... B....

4 people with no soul at all.

  13. T.... N....

OH M GEEE - are you serious - this arrangment, her voice  - I can't handle the truth!!

  14. t.... ....

    Delicioso.

El tema pertenece al álbum "Sunshine of Your Love" (Live In San Francisco 1968) con el trio de Tommy Flanagan.
