Ella Fitzgerald - Little White Lies Lyrics

The moon was all aglow
And heaven was in your eyes
The night that you told me those little white lies
The stars all seemed to know
That you didn't mean all those sighs
The night that you told me those little white lies

I try but there's no forgetting when evening appears
I sigh but there's no regretting in spite of my tears

The devil was in your heart
But heaven was in your eyes
The night that you told me those little white lies

I try but there's no forgetting when evening appears
I sigh but there's no regretting in spite of my tears

Who wouldn't believe those lips
Who ever could doubt those eyes
The night that you told me those little white lies

Those little white, tiny white, little white lies

No one sang this song so great and so beautifully as Marion Harris. This version not gives me they very good feelings Marion's version gives me. In my opinion Marion was a better singer

It's because this is a Blues version and it's far far dissimilar than the Marion Harris version. Even so, in my opinion the crystal clear voice of Ella Fitzgerald is simply incomparable, not even Miss Marrion could've sung this version like Lady Ella did.

Timeless voice! I could listen to her for hours on end!

Talk about "velvet" in her voice: just the first notes would be enough. Then she rises up to the orchestra's intensity and again playfully after the "composer's refrain". A neautiful song, to be taught at conservatories - as I usually say - as the epitome of un-showy, true-to-the-word music making.

She's so badass, I love Ella
