we played this song at my moms funeral last month.  After battling cancer for a year, the battle was over and the glory was his....we felt like this was a victory song for my mom...this will always be my moms song...

Great worship song but why do they show the singers on the projection screens? Why not the lyrics only? Is the focus on the lyrics or the singers?

The focus is on giving God the glory.  What's on the screen isn't important. If that's distracting then that person needs to close their eyes or, more importantly, fix their focus on what is or isn't on the screens and focus on God and giving Him the glory.

I see what you're saying. But I think it's just a normal thing that very large churches do for people to feel more up close and personal with the preacher and leaders in worship. They record the worship and sermon to reach out- have it available online live on their website and the songs on youtube and just show what's being recorded on the big screens... When I am present in churches of this type my focus is on God that I am worshipping.. I don't feel like the singers are distracting or anything. When they are into it and genuine, it helps, God knows we need leaders but we should never idolize them

The role of these people as "worship leaders" is more accurately describes as "lead worshippers", they are worshipping God and setting an example of complete and unashamed proclamation of faith, which helps the congregation follow-suit into genuine worship. It is NOT about glorification of anyone on stage, and if it was, EVERY church should eliminate anyone from the stage, and all music and preaching should be done through pre-recorded audio with captions so that no one can be mistaken for taking glory for themselves. Clearly this isn't the best route, there are benefits to having leaders as examples of following Christ.

You have to understand to elevation worship does concerts and there are ppl in the back that necessarily can't exactly see them so they do that to show them. I serve In the media in my church and if we could show our band we most would certainly do so if you have the equipment to do it go for it, it makes a good service on our end and attracts the young people even more to Jesus.
