Electric Light Orchestra - From The Sun To The World (Boogie No. 1) Lyrics
Listen to me sister, I got news from the governor,
and he's heard people shouting from the towers in the city
while their babies grow in test tubes over night
Run and fetch the priest cos there's a light on in the building
and we should try to get the people out alive
Movin 'cross the ocean with the flag of death a'flyin
the demon butcher pointin out the message on the tide
and the demon light a'sailin at his side
Stormin down the airwaves comes the protest and the prayin
and the love that shone down from the sun to world
no longer could support the life it gave

Electric Light Orchestra From The Sun To The World (Boogie No. 1) Comments
Been jamming out on this since i was a little kid in the 70's
The only thing stopping Richard Tandy from being considered the best keyboardist in rock is the transcendent talent of fellows like Emerson, Wakeman, Minnear, Banks, Pinder, Lord, and perhaps others.
There ahead or the Time
Incredible song and album. Modern classical music.
3:31 - 5:27 What was Jeff smoking? Muy bueno
Roy Wood played Cello and Bass on this song.Which I didn't find out until years later!✌️
When you listen to ELO 2nd album it’s hard to say they progressed..certainly not after Out Of The Blue....
Afraid Out Of The Blue did very little for me. IMO their decline began with that very album.
Listen to me sister, I got news from the governor
And he's heard people shouting from the towers in the city
While their babies grow in test tubes over night
Run and fetch the priest, 'cause there's a light on in the building
And there's sounds blowin' out in the music of the night
And we should try to get the people out alive
Movin' 'cross the ocean with the flag of death a-flyin'
And the demon butcher pointin' out the message on the tide
And the demon light a-sailin' by his side
Stormin' down the airwaves comes the protest and the prayin'
And the love that shone down from the sun to the world
No longer could support the life it gave
Roy Wood played bass on this track and "In Old England Town" on the ELO 2 album. He wasn't credited until 2003 when the 30th anniversary 2 cd set of ELO 2 was released.
Early ELO was great. Jeff Lynne lost his mind later by too much money and successand thought disco was better.
Words cannot convey the excellence of E.L.O.
Two things, one I want this song on sheet music, playing this on the piano would ball so hard, two, this song is about eight minutes and 20 seconds, the length of time it takes light from the sun to reach earth
Human race get off ya knees

CON 2 COJONES
This is a magnum opus. Progressive rock at its best!
Oh i so love this song. I used to blast it in my room when I was younger. I'm sure my parents thought i was quite mad :) Thank you for posting :)
This is the ELO's song I'm most obsessed with. Especially for 1:27
havnt heard this in years.....lol...lol...heard it tonight on a college station....lol
...Jeff the best 😊❄*😉😊😀💗😊😍😀🌞❄*
I saw this performed live in the week before Thanksgiving 1973. War was one of the other bands on the bill, as I recall, at Tempe Diablo Stadium. Cost was $6.25. I remember that piece of trivia because my brother's girlfriend had to panhandle to get us all in. My first concert and I remember it pretty well.
ELO playing tango, wow
First saw them live at Manchester Free Trade Hall, February 18th 1974 on "On The Third Day" Tour. F*cking amazing.
8 minutes and 20 seconds - the time it takes for light to travel from the sun to the world
jcBurton2094 I bet that wad intentionally done
rounding up .73 sec. but yeah.
Never understood why the first two ELO albums never got the same attention and appretiation as their following albums.
You can hear some early pre-Move experimentation here, and some pre-figuring of "Laredo Tornado": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxORvLcvpco
The problem is the naysayers get some sense of confirmation of their dismissiveness by Lynne himself who is also rather dismissive of the second album. Personally it's one of my favorite ELO albums.
Rick Sanchez imho the first 2 albums were the best with on the Third Day, Eldorado and Face the music being extremely close to being on par.
Rick Sanchez I agree with you 100%
The first two albums are relatively obscure because record company executives are wretched vermin.
Beautiful
An all round amazing piece of music but they really didn't need the silly "Boogie" part, I always skip past that mess.
Which boogie part?
3.51 onwards until the reprise
@novak djokovic Hmm, I don't hear anything bad here.
The boogie bit sounds like something Roy Wood missed off Wizzard Brew........
Exceptional music with chilling lyrics
Jeff Lynne is the modern Mozart of our era...ELO best band ever.
First few seconds remind me of La Folia in a way.
The violin solo at 3:30 is truly sublime and beautiful
The late Wilfred Gibson was a far better violinist than Mik Kaminski could ever hope to be. Wilf was classically trained, Mik is a Rock & Roll violinist.
Dieses Lied mag ich sehr.....! :-))
Magestuosa Solemne Gloriosa ....Dios q Sinfonica Gracias Jeff Lynne"ELO
+Blanca Cadillo ((((((((((((((((( Jeff Lynne is a Musical Genius )))))))))))))))))
@Lynne Musicalgenius
I love this song, so artistic and creative. The sound effects are cool. The piano in the tune is nice an peaceful then goes insanely Awesome. The violin work is great. Pure Masterpiece this song is.
Ta Ra Ra Boom Dee Aye
+Glen Carta ah yes I understand what you mean
+perrin6
He was making out the notes to the synth lead you hear at 0:40.
Yes, I think you're on the money. Jeff incorporates a lot of that stuff intentionally.
In my ELO playlist with a pretty good fan made instrumental version created via MIDI. Thanks for the upload!
Kinda reminds me of Kraftwerk's first two albums.
This really showed their diversity and range probably more than any song in their history--certainly from their early years.
ELO is a great band I still have all there Records & some in CD's
Can you imagine this being played on the radio today? Perhaps a college station on the overnight shift. Amazing sound - deep as the ocean and tall as the sky.
In Finland yes, guess same in other Nordics... ;P :D by Tinja&Markku :D Actually hear this twice last year on radio channels... :D by Markku
I find them better than The Beatles, Pink Floyd and Daft Punk. :)
@TheTullecesama Daft Punk has nothing to do in that conversation. They are several levels below the other 3.
Yes. I just wanted to point that out.
TheTullecesama ELO is probably one of the most underrated bands of the history.
A Pole You Know You mention Daft Punk in the same breath as The Beatles and Floyd?
Mozart, Schubert, Verdi, Chopin, Lynne..................
+Lynne Musicalgenius I am Brazilian, I don't like Samba and I am happy to say that ELO is my favorite band!
Congratulations my friend! Jeff Lynne is a musical genius, he is a humble man, but awesome.
I love this Excellent Masterpiece from ELO. It's so beautiful and cool, interesting and unique with creative sound with drum beats, violin, trumpet and piano, ect. It's like a trip from Earth to Heaven. The depth of art and how special this Amazing tune is unlimited. With this great tune ELO had freed their beautiful mind =-D
Michael Gray sorry there's no trumpet there :p
Simply fantastic.. I am glad I was around back then..
Love this song
