I remember being a skinny youth and a girl abandoning me, and this song would have made the perfect accompaniment. I had travelled 300 miles to be with her. Never felt so alone.

ELO seem to get better as the yrs go on this album is the best yet well done Jeff

Jeff Lynne is without doubt one of the most underestimated composers of world class, especially in the non Anglo-Saxon world, reinventing classic and modern themes and instruments in a very personal unique style that was never imitated and can stand as a monument in the history of music.

I would like to hear an ELO's version of space oddity :)

This song just makes you cry. Yeah it is about the voyager 1 spacecraft. He imagined it the craft with astronauts on it. Turning it into people. Thinking how lonely it can get as it says on the lyrics.

This song makes me want to lay in my bed and cry. it's such a beauty.

The Beatles have always been my favorite group. They are by far the absolute best. But ELO has held a place in my heart for over 40 years. This is such a great song. If you want to hear one of the greatest Rock and Roll songs ever, listen to their version of Roll Over Beethoven.

I can only imagine if he were born 10 years later and was first making music in the New Wave/Alternative movement of the early 80's, what it would've sounded like?

Jeffs talent never stops. I'm 51 and ELO has been part of my life since Out of the blue. Keeps me going in difficult times. I'm now discovering the magic of earlier albums such as Face the music - incredible songs. Thank you Jeff.

Jeff wrote this song about the Voyager spacecraft when he heard a report on the news in 2013 that it had left the solar system. He said that in a BBC interview.

In a XM long form interview he also said the whole album was written durring his divorce. Start to finish the album is great.
