Hart is definitely the originator. He and Johnny Pettibone of Himsa basically created the whole "fashioncore" steez as it was called back in 03-04 or so. Shaddix and his band are irrelevant bandwagon hoppers.

These guys were the best. They never got the respect that they deserved. There isn't a single metalcore band out there today that wasn't influenced by 18V.

LOVE this song, the band, and this album in particular. I met the band, when I went to a HIM concert in Seattle, and they were hella awesome, down to earth dudes, wit SICK music, so win-win!! #eighteenvisions #HIM

I got to meet them a lot of times. I miss them a lot. They're music was great. To me, I honestly feel Burn Halo is a flop.

@TylerNightmare I've been a huge fan of 18V for many years. I saw them dozens of times, that band used to put on on HELL of a show when they played live. I'm bummed out that they're still not around. I als honestly tried to get into Burn Halo but I just couldn't dig it. It sounds too much like today's generic rock...you know, like Buck Cherry, Papa Roach, etc...those types of bands are a dime a dozen....

@Dubstar23 I think some of thir songs mit be emo besides alternative metal an post hardcore an metalcore ... but if you look in this music video kinda look emo to me as far there music goes ...so who can tell just besides the way they look i think thir some emo core in there they are a very alternative band ... i can say for some people that it can be cunfusing ...

@Death Valentine "Emo" means "emotional" as in "emotional music". So what does that mean, that anyone who writes a ballad is "Emo"? That's dumb. Even "Screamo" was a stupid category. Screaming is an emotion expressed out anger, frusration, etc..so any musician who screams should also be categorized as "screaming emo....screamo". How lame.


As far as their "look", I don't think anyone could technically dress or fashion themselves up to convey an "emotion" thus being labelled as "Emo." A guy wearing eyeliner or dying a red stripe in his hair or wearing skinny jeans and a tie can do it for any number of reasons. That has nothing to do with the sound of the band.



18V started out as straight edge hardcore and although their music naturally evolved later in their careers, that was always a really strong element of their sound.

I don't know what the song is really about, I feel like its just saying random things about isolation,
but if it isn't, i think its about becoming very jaded in your personality, either doing drugs and drinking to ease the pain of relationships and having an attitude where you just put it aside, I don't know. It would certainly be interesting if it were cause I personally feel that way about life and people I meet
