I've been a fan of Orange Juice for a good few years but never really listened to Edwyn's solo stuff until now for some reason - this track makes me realise how much I've got to look forward to over the next few days (and years).

Timeless. could have been sung by the Detroit Emeralds in the seventies or Dusty in the Sixties. I used to hate Orange Juice and their ilk in the 80's and now I'm starting to realise what a great songwriter Edwyn Collins really is and how influential his music has been on a lot of current UK guitar bands... they even look like Orange Juice for goodness sake!

The new stuff is really good and I saw him live a month or so ago and he and the band were rocking, it was a bit hard seeing him struggling to walk and talk at times but after 5 mins it was business as usual.

@wasteland70 - I understand where you're coming from. But we should remember that Edwyn Collins is 50-something (quite a bit older than you and me) and suffered a stroke, which left his ability to sing and play music in very serious doubt. Yet, despite that, he was able to compose a nifty and musically upbeat song like this. If his heart and soul could endure that pain, maybe the rest of us could learn a thing or two from him.

I saw Edwyn at Lounge on the Farm yesterday. It was inspiring but his illness has had an obvious effect unfortunately. His new album stuff sounded quite good and of course A Girl Like You was amazing but due to the illness he cant hit as many notes and he was heavily supported by the band, but then again after the illness he had he would obviously need support. The man should however be very proud of himself.

I respect Edwyn much more than some of the really big rock star's, he should be damn popular now, too bad after A Girl Like You he didn't make it to really big scene. But still, he is enourmously respected, he makes good music.
