I thought it meant something completely different before watching the video, but after watching the video, I think it's about people living in desperation, and how they may be tough to admit it, but they are empty and want out. I see the lyrics as being inside the mind of any one of the individuals in the video's feelings about their life-choices. I may be over thinking it, but it makes the video very sad to me. The girl with the brown jacket at the same time as the lyrics 'collide into me, I could do with a fight' seems to interpret she is lonely and ANY feeling in life would be a positive thing for her: so sad. 'The broken hearts of my neighborhood, they cast aside like the dreams in Hollywood' and the prostitutes on that scene, is their depseration. It's very sad. Then the homeless guy and the lyrics 'Does the honesty deceive? Try to find a way to leave this party.': he is ripping the Bible during this time, like he's tried, and tried and giving up because no one, or power gave him the time of day. I think Tom Smith created an epic song worthy of emotional disarray here. F-ing brilliant and sad at the same time....

Had never heard these guys before but then stumbled on a Mirror article about vocal range and Tom Smith was top so had a listen to a few of his tracks. Now I'm in the awkward position of having to be thankful to The Mirror :-(, cos these guys are pretty damn good lol.

You need to go and see them play live. I saw them 6 times and can never get enough. Am end has a start is by far their best album and live tour.

One of my all time favourite Editors songs, I'm so pleased they released it as a single. I went to see them live a few weeks ago and their live version of the song was absolutely amazing. My only complaint is the video is shit, could have been so much better, but that doesn't matter as it's a fucking brilliant song.

This is my favorite band. Fuck I love you Editors, I hope you never break up it would be heartbreaking. They have been there through my depressing higschool days to me singing it to my first gf and her being baffled my obsession and love for them. They get through some really hard times. I love you and thank you for everything.
