Edie Brickell & New Bohemians - Once In A Blue Moon Lyrics

She said I tried to mind my own business.
But that sad look on your face, was a challenge to my faith.
Made me wanna chase the dark out of your room.
So she smiled and said hello.
Little did she know, he would take hold of her soul.
And never never never let go.
He was fine before he met her,
Eyes like faded jeans,
soft and blue and he had seen everything and he had been everywhere
Til he turned his gaze her way
Longed to see her everyday
Heard a voice inside him say
He'll never never never be the same.
Once in a while
Once in a blue moon.
There comes somebody like you
They caught fire and they got fever.
He was more than fun
She was more than young
And the orange setting sun was beautiful
Ever so at ease in the summer evening breeze
They would talk and they would tease
And never never never want to leave.
Once in a while
Once in a blue moon
There comes somebody like you.

totally love this music so much. and edie brickell is so refreshingly natural, no make up, just pure heart/soul/spirit. one of my favorite songwriters and musicians/vocalists and she does not even care about "fame" which makes her all the more refreshing.

  3. S.... K....

    so lovely

I just didn't want that song to end...as long as she kept singing I wouldn't cry. But it ended and that's what I did. :-)

  28. s.... ....

Enchanting Edie.... A rose of Texas

  29. t.... c....

This has got to be my all time favorite song. I fell deeper in love with my fiancee than I thought I was. Edie Brickell doesn't get near the credit that she deserves for her contribution's to music.

  30. .... ....

    never never

  31. B.... Y....

At one point I was inches away from meeting Edie Brickell at the "Palomino Club" in Charlotte, NC. Edie's voice and unique style was so AMAZING during that time period... like no other performer! And then years later, I had the opportunity to ALMOST meet Paul Simon while on a Design Job in South Hampton, NY. I had no idea these two were even married! Edie should have TRADEMARKED her unique sound somehow!!! And just to be FAIR... Nobody has ever come close to the sounds of Paul Simon & Art Garfunkel to this day!

  32. D.... E....

She can write 'em and sing 'em. Always true since the beginning. Mahalo Edie

  33. M.... M....

    only once.......

  34. E.... ....

    Beautiful, touchy song.

  35. d.... ....

does anybody know who that guitarist is?

    d.... ....

    Charlie Sexton

    d.... ....

  39. j.... ....

Me too,man .She 's an awesome singer. She is the greatest. She is my favorite singer

  44. D.... G....

    Simplicity is importance.

Just a guitar and a soul singing out is in my mind, the rock bottom basics of good song.

  45. R.... R....

Oh this song made feel so in love, great song, great singer, and great performance

  54. D.... B....

Acoustic..WOW, bought the album so long ago - CD - didn't know there was a Video. Thanks _ Your new BlueGrass work is Great too -

  55. l.... S....

Edie is an underrated  songwriter. She deserve it better

  56. t.... ....

@wookie, there is also a "G" in the refrain

  57. l.... ....

She is similar to Geena Davis :)

  58. g.... ....

charming and enchanting. I like the tone of voice, with that hint of breath while singing; the melody is nice too, and the guitars sound great - well balanced, and seeing that she is obviously enjoying the recording (and is not putting on this pro-Iwon't move-my-face look) is definitely a plus, too.

  59. M.... L....

Glad that Edie decided to "come back" after she raised the kiddos. First things first, but don't keep your talent from us. We love someone that can sing and write beautiful songs.

  60. B.... G....

no wonder, Paul and her hook up :)

  61. r.... ....

Edie Brickell, DAMN, I am a fan

  62. Z.... ....

Here Edie recaptures the haunting vitality of her first album with New Bohemians. Please give us more!

    Z.... ....

They've been touring recently. Saw them last October - Edie sang me a totally improved Birthday song. I can die happy now. ;)

  63. c.... ....

My wife and I danced to this at our wedding. It's still our song to this day. Thank you Edie and friends!

  66. C.... ....

    perfect

  67. J.... C....

HERMOSA ELLA Y SU VOZ..........ME ENCANTA CIRCLE Y ESTA CANCION TAN HERMOSA

  68. G.... T....

I never get tired of listening to Edie sing this beautiful song, it is also one of my favorite videos!!

  69. n.... ....

I hate Paul Simon for getting her to drop the new bo. That was a killer band and she was a better performer with them. I still love her but man, G of a D and Shooting are Fking untouchable...

    n.... ....

namriffs - Two of the best albums ever released, and still so many other great unreleased songs from their live catalog ("Strange Thing", "Wait Awhile", etc.), thank God for Tapers!

  70. b.... c....

    Listening too her every night....

  71. m.... ....

I absolutely adore Edie Brickell.... she inspires me and calms me at the same time... her voice... her lyrics... just caress my spirits and tickle my cheeks. :)

  72. R.... W....

Thank you for sharing, my friend - lovely song. :)

  73. g.... ....

    Totally...:)

  74. I.... ....

are u serious?!? she looks like she hasn't aged since the "What I Am" video....that was like 25 years ago!!!

  75. 1.... ....

    what video is this from?

  76. K.... A....

Charlie Sexton in back, I googled him..

  77. T.... ....

Just perfect. She's so much more than just 'What I am' & 'Circle'. And that beautiful mouth. It's her trademark :). I've always loved her. Alternative, singer songwriter girl. I love 'em. There wasn't a whole lot of them in the mid 80's. Now they're dime a dozen. It doesn't matter though, most of them are pretty stinking good. Edie Brickell is kind of pioneer-ish I think, to all these newer girls. Not counting Regina Spektor, she's not like anybody. She just freaks me out. (in the best way) :)

    T.... ....

Anthony Minsky - Regina Spektor rode the Kate Bush/Tori Amos train into town, buddy, she's really not "all that", and isn't a speck on Edie's backside. Freaky...kind of, in a Sophia Apple, contrived/trying-too-hard kind of way, I suppose, but has almost none of the grace, charm, or sweetness that Edie has. Really, in person, she's just as sweet as she seems in videos, very kind, very gentle, very feminine, loves her family, super genuine. Wish I could say the same about Spektor. At least she's actually singing these days instead of shrieking so much, I'll give her that. But not much more.

  78. R.... M....

Very nice. Jesus Christ walked on water.

  79. d.... ....

I linked so many of my friends to this song. Kind of a lost jewel. She's so cute and innocent.

  80. J.... P....

    no, I was wrong

  81. J.... P....

I think the guy is Paul Simon's son

  82. y.... ....

    *sigh* :)

  83. m.... ....

@TheCindy1111 Amen...i have loved this woman since i was a little kid in 1988...what a talent

  84. h.... h....

    @70gabino
She was born in exactly the right era, and thank God for her!

  85. B.... P....

Oh the the old days of Deep Ellum. The New Bo's, Ten Hands, Fever,Shallow Reign, Little Sister,Three on a hill, Trio of one,Powwow. man those was some good times.

  86. B.... P....

charlie Sexton on guitar with her?

  87. K.... C....

    the best!

  88. T.... ....

I think Edie's so amazing... when she sings it's like honey dripping from the heart... please give us some more music... say, like, an album a year?? :-D

  89. M.... R....

    Bella lei bella canzone

  90. T.... ....

Beautiful voice, great song, great woman

  91. N.... C....

  93. w.... ....

my GOD i love her...... saw her live in 1988 and i've loved her ever since... beautiful inside and out - she shines a light that i've never seen before or since....

    w.... ....

wolfatnight - True, and it's genuine. The only other woman I've met that has thaw same quality is lying in bed, sleeping, next to me, my lovely wife of 24 years. And I've got a beautiful picture of her and Edie together (and my wife with Kenny Withrow, New Bo's guitarist, too 😜), truly beautiful. She was going to illustrate a book my wife wrote, but that got put on hold after Carter Albrecht got shot (R.I.P., Carter +++), not sure if it will ever come together at this point. But, maybe better, we've got two cards Edie drew for us (a dog and a goldfish), pen with colored pencil true treasures, one of a kind :D

  94. W.... P....

    Beautiful!!!

  95. R.... ....

She had and has such a unique voice - sexy too. TY Edie!

  96. M.... J....

I like! I am a FAN of Edie Brickell, since 1999, seen in C D-ROM of Installation of Windows 95. The song, Good Times.

  97. T.... ....

    @littleamigos

This song holds a very special meaning for me as well.
