Edgar Winter - Hangin' Around Lyrics

Drivin' along with my radio on feelin' good
Ain't got no lady but maybe I'm thinkin' I could
I slept all day nothing to do
And I don't see the world goin' by
And I don't even have to try
I'm just hangin' around (Oh yeah)

Thought I was cool when I dropped out of school it was great (yeah)
Could have gone crazy but I was too lazy to wait
So I'm drivin' along, all alone
And I don't see the world goin' by
And I don't even have to try
I'm just hangin' round

I'm driving along all alone, yeah
And I don't see the world goin' by
And I don't even have to try
No, I don't see the world going by
And I don't even have to try
I'm just hangin' around

Oooo baby, listen to the people sing now
(Just hangin' around)
That's right I'm just a hang around
(Just hangin' around)
Take it one more time now
(Just hangin' around)
You're in some real bad situation
(Just hangin' around)
I said I don't see the world goin' by
(Just hangin' around)
I said I don't even have to try
(Just hangin' around)
I'm just a, I'm just a hangin' around
(Just hangin' around)
I'm just, just, hangin' around yeah, yeah
(Just hangin' around)
Thought I was so cool, yeah
(Just hangin' around)...

    Happy birthday

    T.... F....

rick derringer also played on this album in the background.

  26. B.... B....

One of the great album covers ever.

  27. T.... C....

    shoulda been a monster hit....

    T.... C....

@Tom Clark from what i kbnow it came out when i was 16 and it was a big hit but i love it then and dam i love it still!!!

    T.... C....

I wish it was a current hit today..man I am only fourteen and I'm tired of all the crap music now..I'm crankin' this through my homemade vacuum tube amp! I like to work on old tube radios and electronics, so I was able to make one using some tubes I had laying around.

    T.... C....

sounds like +joe sanseverino took a monster hit or two...

    T.... C....

    The whole album :)

  28. R.... F....

So many memories in Brooklyn come back... just started with a band, we put this on in a jukebox on 5th avenue and 8th street in Brooklyn

  29. w.... ....

As much as I like Frankenstein and Free Ride, it's hard to believe this wasn't the first single from the album. All kinds of great hooks and harmony vocals.

    w.... ....

I agree, this was an awesome song.

    w.... ....

    couldn't agree more....

    w.... ....

@Tom Clark it is 1 of the best

    w.... ....

I wonder why the lead vocal is so low in the mix? Even the harmony vocals are louder.

    w.... ....

This was actually the second single from the LP, "Round And Round" was first. "Frankenstein" and "Free Ride" were the third and fourth singles, then....this song was re-released with a different mix after "Frank" and "Free Ride" became huge hits.

  30. i.... ....

it wasn't always that great. And there was plenty of awful shit music. But this was great! Music like this saved my 13 year old soul.

  31. i.... ....

wow, i used to love this!!

  32. T.... ....

i was one....graduated in 77....17 years old....and i absolutely thoroughly HATED the eighties...
there were a couple bright spots....not much....its getting better now...
only because people are discovering the 'good' stuff...here on youtube-

  33. s.... c....

ppl who were teenagers in the 70s....i envy you sooo much im sure it must have been so great. everyone used to tell me i was a hippie at heart and should've been born way before my time. i was a teenager in the80's i cant say i never had a good time.because i did.i just love the 70's style, bands and the music.

    s.... c....

It's easy to "envy" anyone from any time period if you only look at the "good stuff",, cuz no matter when you are alive there is ALWAYS the "bad stuff" TOO ! I was NOT a teenager in the 70's,,but I was alive then and I am GLAd I wasn't older,,having to worry whether you were going to fight in some stupid war for rich men. Be Well and enjoy TODAY !

  34. c.... ....

If there was a song describing growing in the 70's, this is that song. Period!!!

  35. M.... C....

I'm packing my lava lamp and hopping in my time machine.

  36. T.... E....

I bought this when I was about seventen. Godamn I knew I'd great taste!

  37. d.... ....

they only come out at night was 1 of my favorite albums or i had the 8 track of the 70s i love it

  38. c.... t....

wore out 2 copies the onlt other album i did that two was electic warrior trex this song grooves man its the ultimate cruiser get in the car & joyride it still effects me the same wat awesome duel guitars etcetcetc

  39. E.... ....

First concert at winterland circa 71-72 with ronnie montrose,Totally awesome!

  40. R.... ....

Possibly the best song on the album.

  41. C.... ....

    BUENISIMA LA ROLA!!

  42. N.... ....

Thanks you very much Colette! I feel so old saying that "They don't em like this anymore." I guess it's because they're already written..LOL. Just sooo glad I was there! :+) To say "good times" would be an understatement, right guys?

  43. a.... ....

one of the best rock guitarist ever.

  44. s.... ....

That is the UGLIEST album cover I have ever seen. Nonetheless it's an ok song

  45. S.... B....

Drivin around with my radio on

  46. B.... ....

@lpvcrcd Dan Hartman wrote most of the good tunes that band put out. He was a very talented guy.

    RIP Dan

  47. y.... ....

@jwmellott Wow, that is so true. Maybe it's because Frankenstien was so overexposed. But you're right... every song on this album could have released as a single with hit potential.

  48. I.... F....

One of Edgar Winter's great songs!

  49. s.... ....

Made me want to quit school ( 76 grad) so bad!!!!!!

  50. j.... ....

Some footage may exist somewhere. I can remember seeing them on TV, probably on The Midnight Special or In Concert. I remember EW bobbing his head on Frankenstein when the music went "da da da da dadadadada; da da da da dadadada

  51. j.... ....

I played "They Only Come Out At Night" until the grooves were worn out. No bad songs. Frankenstein may actually be my least favorite song on the album.

  52. t.... h....

one of the great albums of the early seventies, party!party!pity we got no live footage, lookin at that record album while we reminece...t7

  53. b.... ....

Dan wrote a ton of tunes and sang them on the 3 EWG LP's. His 1st solo LP Images is great! Ck his fansite!

  54. V.... F....

    The good old days...
