The late great Dan Hartman was a major force on this album. He wrote 6 of the songs and played bass guitar, ukulele, percussion, maracas and sang lead vocals on "Free Ride".

I'm old now.

i'm 60, remember this album very well and i started smoking pot in the summer of 1965, i was 7 years old, still smoke pot and have very much enjoyed the life i've lived and will smoke pot until i die and i hope i die stoned.

@Tom Clark from what i kbnow it came out when i was 16 and it was a big hit but i love it then and dam i love it still!!!

I wish it was a current hit today..man I am only fourteen and I'm tired of all the crap music now..I'm crankin' this through my homemade vacuum tube amp! I like to work on old tube radios and electronics, so I was able to make one using some tubes I had laying around.

As much as I like Frankenstein and Free Ride, it's hard to believe this wasn't the first single from the album. All kinds of great hooks and harmony vocals.

I wonder why the lead vocal is so low in the mix? Even the harmony vocals are louder.

This was actually the second single from the LP, "Round And Round" was first. "Frankenstein" and "Free Ride" were the third and fourth singles, then....this song was re-released with a different mix after "Frank" and "Free Ride" became huge hits.

it wasn't always that great. And there was plenty of awful shit music. But this was great! Music like this saved my 13 year old soul.

i was one....graduated in 77....17 years old....and i absolutely thoroughly HATED the eighties...
there were a couple bright spots....not much....its getting better now...
only because people are discovering the 'good' stuff...here on youtube-

ppl who were teenagers in the 70s....i envy you sooo much im sure it must have been so great. everyone used to tell me i was a hippie at heart and should've been born way before my time. i was a teenager in the80's i cant say i never had a good time.because i did.i just love the 70's style,bands and the music.

It's easy to "envy" anyone from any time period if you only look at the "good stuff",, cuz no matter when you are alive there is ALWAYS the "bad stuff" TOO ! I was NOT a teenager in the 70's,,but I was alive then and I am GLAd I wasn't older,,having to worry whether you were going to fight in some stupid war for rich men. Be Well and enjoy TODAY !

wore out 2 copies the onlt other album i did that two was electic warrior trex this song grooves man its the ultimate cruiser get in the car & joyride it still effects me the same wat awesome duel guitars etcetcetc

Some footage may exist somewhere. I can remember seeing them on TV, probably on The Midnight Special or In Concert. I remember EW bobbing his head on Frankenstein when the music went "da da da da dadadadada; da da da da dadadada

I played "They Only Come Out At Night" until the grooves were worn out. No bad songs. Frankenstein may actually be my least favorite song on the album.
