Here's my interpretation of this song. Okay so historically speaking, eden writes about a relationship that didn't work out and that he's heartbroken about. There are a bunch of exceptions such as 'sex' which is about a one night stand where he accidentaly falls in love. He has a few songs that stray from this general rule, but the list that follow it are ones like 'drugs', 'rock and roll', 'and', 'forever//over', 'falling in reverse' (which is a little different because its literally just a voice in his head talking to him giving him advice, but its still about heartbreak and getting over it) and so on. I believe he planned on moving away from dublin with this girl and going to america. He alludes to this in 'wake up' when he says "things will be better in america...maybe i can fly you out this place someday". But then they break up, and he moves by himself, which he actually did as he lives in new york. He tells her where he is in 'wings' when he says "you can find me where the sea pours into the stars"... THATS THE ATLANTIC OCEAN hes talking about. So he lets her know, im right across the ocean if you wanna come find me. Well he leaves, and then heres where the ball drops... I believe she dies. "Last night was a car crash..highlights made a quick end" is one line where he alludes to death in a car crash. And then...in this song 'about time', he gives more details about it "half light at a turnpike (a turnpike is like a barrier on the side of a curvy road, usually a cliff), 140 make those guard rails feel nicccce (he holds the 'sss' sound to replicate metal on metal, like car on turnpike)" and what he means by that is a car was going 140 kilometers per hour and smashed into the rails on a turn and landed in water and died. Feel free to drop how youve interpreted his music so far. I love hearing different points of view and thoughts about what makes eden write what he writes.
