Echo & The Bunnymen - Turquoise Days Lyrics

Just when the thought occurs
The panic will pass
And the smell of the fields
Never lasts
Put your faith
In those crimson nights
Set sail
In those turquoise days

You've got a problem
Come on over
You've got a problem
Come on over

It's not for glory
It's not for honour
Just something someone said
It's not for love
It's not for war
Just hands clasped together

It's not for living
It's for hunger
Just lips locked tight
It's not rebellion
It's not suffering
It's just the way it is

And my pistol's packed
And my God goes with me
I feel easy
And I want it
And I need it
And I've got it

It's not for this
It's not for that
It's not any of it

Did you say knowledge?
Did you say prayer?
Did you say anything?
If not for good
If not for better
If not the way it is

Just when the thought occurs
The panic will pass
And the smell of the fields
Never lasts
We'll put your faith
In those crimson nights
Set sail
In those turquoise days

Place our faith
In those crimson nights
Set sail
In those turquoise days

You've got a problem
Come on over
You've got a problem
Come on over
Now I think I know
Just what to say
Now I think I know
Just what to say

  9. D.... B....

If Jim Morrison had been part of new wave.....

    D.... B....

Jim and pink Floyd had a baby...his name was Echo

  10. a.... c....

    Wow mad maxxxxxxx

  11. a.... p....

It's hard to stomach pouty-lipped Ian McCulloch's swank about Echo&The Bunnymen's greatness, but they are actually one of the best bands of the 80's.

  12. D.... S....

    This is a amazing song

  13. S.... T....

This is it for me....The litmus test, Why U2 were a bit naff and the Bunnymen were the shizzle dizzle

  14. A.... F....

I'm working with a small theater troupe in New Mexico. A project for next year is "The 80's Show". This was my favorite band, hands down, and my favorite album, although Crocodiles is just as good in many ways, depending on my mood. This song seemed to be the best one , at least to attempt to perform... what do you all think?

    A.... F....

Arthur Fonseca , this is a better album. More bass riffs, more thinking in made it. I think lolol

  15. M.... M....

First Bunnymen album I ever got. So worth the $7 ;)

  16. a.... g....

    thanks!

  17. O.... U....

Still gets me every time.... Best band ever xxx

  18. J.... B....

    Fantastic track

  19. T.... C....

Jean Loves Jezebel, Echo & The Bunnymen, and New Order - Nautica Stage Cleveland late 80's.
    Was an amazing concert.

  20. J.... H....

I have to say, when I got to see the Crocodiles / Heaven up hear tour in 2011, IT was religious that night. Got to hear both albums back to back, that I never would have been able to hear when they first came out (I was barely in first grade). This concert was one of the best bunny shows Id ever seen. Mind you, I worked the tour in 2001, so Ive seen A LOT of shows.

    J.... H....

Huh What Im Fron dretroit when and what date was that?

    J.... H....

    Still out there?
My first show was 2001 fall Las Vegas “House of Blues”

  21. K.... B....

Exceptional song but 'No dark things' is one of their finest!

  22. 8.... ....

I'm glad I was fortunate to be brought up in the late 70's early 80's , listening to music like this. Still gives you a buzz some 35 years on . Today's music is manufactured utter pish, wee boys in vests , unfortunately making millions .

    8.... ....

8busby I couldn't agree with you more... Today's music is shite!

    8.... ....

Too many tattoos these days - too many twats with tatts!

    8.... ....

Couldn't agree more. Many "bands" of today I wouldn't even call bands because they play no instruments and can barely sing. To make matters worse they are generally organized by overweight older businessmen to satisfy their pedophilic tendencies. The fact that the crap they produce is called music and is popular proves humanity is doomed.

  23. P.... A....

E fugiam da condicao do brit pop reinante da decada de 80.

  24. P.... A....

    Os novos psicodelicos

  25. A.... N....

34 years later, still puts hairs on the back of my neck.

  26. w.... t....

favourite song on their best album, so atmospheric

    w.... t....

+widgeon teal always this should have been used in a film it's got such a great build to it; it work cinematically so well.

    w.... t....

    widgeon teal

  27. G.... K....

This song eats and feeds my soul at the same time.  This song touches me on so many levels, ... some superficial and mundane ... some deep and philosophical and emotional ... This song is 1983 to me to a T.

    G.... K....

Gnaw Knee Mouse best description I have read. Spot on!

  28. J.... ....

If I see one additional Thumbs Down, I'll Do Canary Islands...I swear to God!

  29. J.... ....

If I see one additional Thumbs Down, I'll Do Canary Islands...I swear to God!

  30. d.... ....

Listened to it when i was 15. Now, 35 years later it's still sounds magnificent! Timeless!

  31. B.... ....

    I agree.

  32. M.... ....

Just beautiful. For me - one of the finest and most evocative tunes from the early 80's.

  33. A.... D....

I first heard this when I was 15 and it is still stunning over thirty years later. One of my favorite EABT tracks. Great drums from a drummer who died way too young.

  34. R.... B....

I will never sell these masterpieces!

  35. r.... ....

Maybe I'm wrong, I hope I'm wrong, but I feel like alot of this great music is being forgotten.

    r.... ....

I agree, sadly. While there's that whole "synthwave" thing going on right now, claiming to be an 80s revival thing, I feel it really misses the variety (and frankly the point) of music of that era. There are like 15 big synthwave bands right now that all just make imitations of the same three songs by John Carpenter and Vangelis (the main titles from Escape from New York and Blade Runner, as well as the end credits from the latter). It's all incredibly depressing, knowing just how much amazing stuff existed around that time. Hell, even the Blade Runner soundtrack itself had a wider variety of music than this revival has.

    r.... ....

    fisk0 True, style over substance

  36. T.... B....

Lately I bought a "platine" to play vinyls so I asked my dad if I could borrow his vinyls (he has hundreds and was born in 61). He told me this album was great so I tried it and fell in love with Echo & The Bunnymen and now I'm always playing their vinyls in my room.
This song is just awesome. That's sad we don't get to listen to this kind of music nowadays (I'm 22).

  37. b.... ....

Sean – you are right on the money! I hated the saccharine sound of so many 80s bands when I was in high school. It WAS Syd and the Floyd for me. Even U2 sounded too cute for me then (I since fell in love with th'Edge's guitar playing but Bono is usually too much of a muchness for me). But this Bunnymen album was something else – edgy, dour, minimal yet atmospheric and competently and musically played. Heaven Up Here ws probably the B-men at their best.

  38. M.... ....

ahhh, the long days tour,i remember it well!!!

  39. N.... ....

    GREATEST BAND.

  40. N.... ....

    Totally agree, mate.

  41. h.... ....

I agree 100 percent...this album changed my life and many others i reckon, and pete the drummer was awesome, was the first time i cried over someone out of my own family when he passed away !!!!

  42. h.... ....

Pete de Freitas , was the drummer, he was a god of course..in drumming !!!!

  43. h.... ....

thats because when they made this they still had the brilliant drummer..sadly passed away !!!!

  44. A.... B....

Anybody noticed that Kasabian nicked this?? FIRE?? Their biggest track is a blatant skank

    A.... B....

Alex Bamford Oh, please. They sound nothing alike. Yes, the melody contains one interval in common, but so do several million other songs

  45. s.... ....

@modsheff1 I've a gorgeous Sheff Utd retro jersey too... great city my friend, great people.

  46. m.... ....

the audio sound on this upload is fuckin spot on.!!!

  47. m.... ....

@seanreillyireland you speak my language my friend.:))

  48. 2.... ....

@TumbrelJockey it'd be at a party us Goths crashed, lay down between two speakers off my head on the music alone...no wonder people thought i was weird...

  49. M.... ....

    @MrJumblerr yup, you're right, Sir 8-)

  50. M.... ....

    simple, effective & amazing

  51. x.... ....

I love this song it gets in your blood & stays there always loved them

  52. T.... B....

This is as magnificent now as it was in the 80's. Captivating and exacting musicianship on each layer of the music. These guys were too good for the mainstream masses, most of which couldn't comprehend it.

  53. k.... m....

The blue print or red print, of how to use a song to tell us what is mixing in the world, worthy of a PHD, proposal on popular music, U2 some may say, are infringement of copyright,

  54. E.... H....

I first heard this during their Heaven Up Here tour. They played a small club in Houston. I was mesmerised!

  55. l.... ....

@Toffeeboyish You're very lucky to have met Pete De Freitas' mum. He was one of my favorite drummers in the history of rock. And Heaven Up Here is one of the most important albums released in 1981.

  56. D.... W....

very true wireless.. very true! better lyrics instead of vocoded crap vocals!!

  57. T.... ....

It's not for glory. It's just the way it is. God I love the Bunneymen and so often forget it. And Every song I listen to makes me cry for Pete.

  58. J.... K....

    Thank you for sharing.

  59. P.... ....

@BertAtkin i must be one of the " gets them " people.
i LOVE this album , funny thing is i bought it in 1987 at which time i only sort of " got it " 10 years later i got it back , and it got played a couple time and it went back .. then about 6 months ago i put it on the turntable and had a number, and i swear .. i felt as if i bonded with it ..as little as i've listened to it , it has had a serious impact on my tastes and influence without me even noticing.. it's
    such a good record .

  60. B.... ....

@charlemagne666 Ha Ha, why thank you, erm....charlemagne. lol.

  61. c.... ....

    @BertAtkin

  68. B.... ....

@elsoda Yeah I know what you mean mate.

  69. s.... ....

@elsoda obviously U2 shouldn't be compared to the almighty Bunnymen, simply glorious.

  70. K.... O....

The best album cover of the 80's, and a great album.

    K.... O....

An all-timer album cover. Certainly a top 5.

    K.... O....

@Frank Albin I think that "Porcupine" is the best album cover of all Bunnymen's discography !!!

  71. M.... ....

    @BertAtkin It's not for glory.

  72. M.... ....

    Echo the best band ever

  73. B.... ....

Love this Song, so atmospheric and I love the simple but so effective change to eight notes on the Bass drum and sixteen on the hi -hats in the drum beat at 1.18, which kicks the song on. Brilliant, you either "get" Echo and the bunny men or you dont. Just over a 1000 views makes this a secret to a minority, I'd like to keep it like that, just look at popular Music these days. I'm going to watch ETBM play in Liverpool where they will perform Crocodiles and Heaven up here in dec this year.

  74. m.... ....

    @seanreillyireland cant fault ya......Bunnymen....then onto barrett.......great leap.x

  75. m.... ....

the DOGSBOLLOCKS of tunage.......this album is soo soo underrated!

  76. Z.... ....

    not a love song

  77. s.... ....

@TumbrelJockey You're right... I was into them heavily at 14 years, them and Joy Division. I couldn't hack the Simple Minds / U2 stuff kids my age were into... after these there was Syd Barrett's Pink Floyd. There wasn't really anywhere else to go after all that, except Bach and nursery rhymes.
