Echo & The Bunnymen - Seven Seas Lyrics

Stab a sorry heart
With your favourite finger
Paint the whole world blue
And stop your tears from stinging
Hear the cavemen singing
Good news they're bringing

Seven seas
Swimming them so well
Glad to see
My face among them
Kissing the tortoise shell

A longing for
Some fresher feeling
Belonging
Or just forever kneeling
Where is the sense in stealing
Without the grace to be it

Seven seas
Swimming them so well
Glad to see
My face among them
Kissing the tortoise shell

Burning my bridges
And smashing my mirrors
Turning to see if you're cowardly
Burning the witches with mother religious
You'll strike the matches and shower me
In water games
Washing the rocks below
Taught and tamed
In time with tear flow

Seven seas
Swimming them so well
Glad to see
My face among them
Kissing the tortoise shell

Seven seas
Swimming them so well
Glad to see
My face among them
Kissing the tortoise

Seven seas
Swimming them so well
Glad to see
My face among them
Kissing the tortoise shell

When I was a teenager in the 80's listening to new wave music I didn't get Echo and the Bunnymen. But now they are my favorite 80's band. You appreciate them with age.

The music of Echo and the bunny men will be forever played. Love their sound. Brilliant

  40. S.... S....

You just no that when this was video was filmed, it was awkward for them, you can tell they just didn't want to do it, but hey the 1980s haha, luckily the music is far more classier

  41. E.... B....

    What a bass line!

  42. S.... P....

i was in liverpool at the weekend did the full hog cavern club and the ferry they had ferry across the mersey playing in the background but i was humming this!! love this song from the bunnymen.

  50. X.... D....

    Traveling alone I guess.

  51. T.... K....

His reaction to the penguin is great. Yeah I'd clog for him too. Never caught the Bowie-esque lipstick smear til now.

  52. b.... n....

    Classic

  53. C.... R....

Every Stone Roses song ever just sounds like the chorus to this song.

  54. H.... H....

    The la’s, the waterboys

  55. C.... F....

    I'm only/already age 16/62 but I always/sometimes only listen to music from this era I don't care if I'm weird/normal!

  56. a.... a....

Ian its the 80,s poet! Brilliant always and awesome

  57. J.... C....

Wow just wow...forgot wot a gem this was

  58. D.... F....

What an evocative and nostalgic sound. Although the song is from the 80s, I remember sharing this video on my Facebook account 4 or 5 years ago, I wish I could turn back time to those gone happy days.

  59. M.... G....

Caralho, dá uma dor no peito ouvir isto e lembrar que o tempo passa e que infelizmente não volta mais, mas pelo menos fica o consolo de ter vivido uma boa época e curtido muitas coisas boas

  60. y.... t....

he really be out here looking better as a girl than i do

  67. T.... j....

When music was music! (Those x-factor clown judges should hang their heads in shame)

  68. C.... F....

    Fantastic band

  69. E.... T....

Music and Videos, like the world, were a lot more fun back then. Building my Time Machine furiously!!

  70. M.... H....

This is yet another one of these recordings with lots of atmosphere. Great album🤓

  71. P.... L....

    Ian McCulloch eu te amooooooooooooooo!!

  72. L.... L....

My absolute favourite band, timeless music. I have his hairstyle, and i almost always wear my long black military coat, with rolled up black trousers, and brown loafers with no socks. Is anyone else keeping the Bunnymen look alive?

    L.... L....

Unfortunately not keeping up the look but like you love EATB and Ian McCulloch

  73. N.... P....

whats the name of the song at the end?

  74. J.... V....

    lots of Bowie influence

  75. g.... p....

This tune takes me back (rather wonderfully) to the mid 80s

  76. S.... ....

loved the Star Club backdrop. E&tB paying tribute to that other Liverpool band.

  77. J.... M....

Will Sargent is doing an amazing Brian Jones. Also I can't help but think of Bauhaus the art college when I see this. These guys were amazing. "Lay Down thy Raincoat and Groove."

  78. T.... ....

It's been many years now, but still breaks my heart to see Pete

  79. A.... D....

I think the 80's was the last great decade of pop

  80. J.... P....

This is a great song! I wonder how would "Seven Seas" lovers rate the song "Lost, in the Night, in the City"? Thanks in advance!

  81. D.... H....

    Pure brilliance

  82. D.... B....

So this is where the roses got I am the resurrection

    vunderground1 Liverpool

    v.... ....

    Who could ever have guessed?

    v.... ....

    vunderground1 haha, great singer

  89. n.... ....

Ian's acting at 1:05 (seeing Les in the penguin suit) is hilarious.

  90. E.... m....

Never seen this before and i was a teenage fan in the ’80’s. Really good.

  91. A.... W....

Ian is prettier than all of us.

    A.... W....

    You are beautiful 🌹

  92. k.... ....

That guitar intro... the ultra light bass treatment, that voice, those drums :)

  93. R.... ....

What I always loved about the band is that each of the band had a different haircut style but each a classic of the time. We had the classic indie messy look, the floppy pre-madchester, the quiff and tidy college look.
