Easton, Sheena - The Last To Know Lyrics

Let me be the first to say, ain't it always so
But there's no other way to find out what I need to know
Its not that I don't think you care, its what you haven't said
That keeps me guessing day and night, putting visions in my head

[Chorus:]
Don't let me be the last - if you thought of leaving would you tell me
Don't let me be the last - if the truth would hurt me would you lie to me
(What would you say)
Don't you keep it to yourself for my protection, break it to me now
Don't let me be the last - if there's anything you want to tell me
Don't let me be the last - like you're never gonna let me go
Honey, all I ask, don't let me be the last to know

You know how a friend will talk, a secrets hard to keep
And this girl he says you're in love with, sounds a lot like me
Still its not for me to say if what I heard is true
And I wont let myself believe a word, till I hear it from you

[Chorus repeats out]

  4. J.... C....

We need this album in Apple Music, Spotify and the price of it needs to be appropriately lower.

  5. J.... C....

There’s even a Spanish version by Mexican singer Yuri.

  6. D.... F....

My favorite Celine song ever. And I'm the last to know Sheena was the original singer. Lol

    D.... F....

She's been keeping it to herself for your protection!

    D.... F....

    @kejigila Lololol

  7. L.... 1....

sheena she was the most beautiful face for pop music business of the 80s!....with excellent voice

  8. A.... D....

And also #jazz ! #sheenaeaston #lasttoknow - came here direct from #whatifwefallinlove with #eugenewilde. [who in later life wrote for the #backstreetboys and #britneyspears ].

  9. b.... b....

sheena version is definitely the best

  10. V.... P....

Hearing this version song, feeling like in karaoke studios, or in watching life perform of singer in the cafe, or pub or in club, nit superior like celine version...

  11. V.... P....

Celine dion much put heart into the sing than sheena....

  12. O.... W....

I still like the Celine Dion version, being a fan of her for 17 years

  13. K.... 7....

I think both versions are great but Celine does a better job. Celine sings with so much feeling and her voice is strong so she carries her notes more. First time I ever heard this song was in a record store and I searched for this cd until I found it. Celine moved me to hunt this cd down and buy her unison cd on the spot! Haha, great memory!!

  14. S.... A....

they did so much harmonies and wrote so make great hits for other singers!!!

  15. S.... A....

sounds like the bee gees harmony in the backround!

  16. B.... L....

I was only aware of Celine's version. I didn't know it was a cover. This is a great performance by Sheena, but I prefer Celine's version. To me, it had much more pain and soul in it. And I love that ethereal, echo-ey vibe in Celine's. But that doesn't mean this isn't an awesome version too.

    B.... L....

I didn't know Celine's version was really a cover. Of course, as much as I think Sheena is amazing.. I prefer Celine's version only because of the tempo and the instrumentals.. If they would have sped Sheena's version up a little bit, wow.. that would be good.

  17. T.... ....

Didn't know Celine's version was a cover. Sheena is really underrated. I've been going through her catalog over the last few weeks - it's taken awhile because she has so much music, and most of it is really good. Her voice is both sweet and strong, making it both impressive and easy to listen to. Some people have brilliant powerful voices but listening to them can be a task.

  18. D.... D....

When I first found the 45 to "Eternity" and heard of the new album, I searched the racks of the locals record stores for months. It was before the internet age where you learned the news ahead of time...I had no idea of the delay in the album release. I was so happy to find the vinyl copy in a record store some 5 years later. When One Way Records re issued her albums...I was beyond ecstatic. The whole album is full of joy..

  19. .... ....

    I love Sheena's version^_^

  20. Y.... A....

very beautiful! But Celine's version is more touching

    Y.... A....

Iiiiiiiiiii don't know about that. They're both beautiful versions nonetheless.

    Y.... A....

yeah Celine's makes me want to cry. she seems more in pain. this one is just a pretty voice singing

    Y.... A....

    +Queen of the Grandenites
Both are pretty voices- Celine and Sheena

  21. l.... b....

bella canzone cantata da una bella donna con voce ancora piu' bella

  22. p.... ....

What a bunch of b/s SHEENA is Much Better than Celine & very easy on the eyes ! Love Ya Sheena!

  23. M.... P....

    good songs^^

  24. S.... S....

Still think Celines is better!!! Celine Dion Fan!!!!!!!!!

  25. D.... F....

    The best version !

    D.... F....

Dominique Fabien Dupont I can't even hear her version I can hear Celine Dion version

  26. s.... ....

This is my second favorite album from Sheena Easton.  This would have been a single I always believed if it was released when it should have been in the spring of 1987.  5 star vocals

  27. k.... ....

Love Sheena, but Celine's is the superior version.

  28. M.... D....

Sheena Easton wind beneath my wings studio version

  29. v.... ....

I'm glad I managed to snatch up a Japanese release of this album on Amazon for 39.99 (without bonus tracks) a few days ago. I have to say, the whole album was truly consistant and worth listening through to the end. In my opinion, 'Wanna Give My Love' was the best track on the album; second best was 'Floating Hearts'; third was 'The Last To Know.' I hate that 'Floating Hearts' and 'Wanna Give My Love' are not on YouTube! Maybe I'll remedy that soon! ^^ Thanks for uploading!

  30. C.... P....

Please..someone..put up the album "You could have been with me" :-)

  31. C.... P....

I'm surprised that not the entire album is on YouTube. It's fantastic..in my ears. Bought the tape in 1981 (11 years old..hahaha) forgotten about it, and stumbled over this while surfing. Still have it. Sounds even greater now...when i can really apreciate it :-)

  32. F.... w....

I will say that celine dions version is good but its not better than sheena's , i think their both just as good ,so theres no comparing them .

  33. F.... w....

Im not gonna say anyones is better cause you never know whos gonna get offended, i will say that this version is fantastic and this is sheenas song first and it sounds good ,

  34. P.... ....

Thanks to whoever put this up. I did the background vocals on this track with Sheena. Haven't heard it in years. -Poke. :)

  35. m.... s....

can somebody please upload Floatin Hearts

  36. u.... ....

    Sheena
    My Godness ^^

  37. T.... E....

5 people here are unhappy with their own life. Poor fellows! I will pray for you.

  38. h.... ....

The SONG is what makes the BIG difference in any singers career Simply put,She just never had enough "Great " material.,

  39. T.... H....

Both Celine and Sheena are great talents that's all needs be said.

  40. h.... ....

@jamesmt142 No, it is not wrong to prefer Sheena's version to Celine's. Sheena's the ORIGINAL version anyways :D This is one of my all-time favorite ballads since 1987. Love you, Sheena!

  41. J.... M....

Is it wrong I actually prefer this to the Celine Dion version?

    J.... M....

    James Martin you wrong!!

  42. b.... ....

I prefer's Sheena's singing style to Celine's. Sheena's voice is much more sensual.

  43. k.... ....

The two did kind of sing it the same, but I like Celine's a little better because of the arrangement and her vocal style.

  44. W.... D....

@Rukia212002 - it is her unique soprano voice that makes her so special.

  45. A.... ....

It is a clear cut that Sheena Easton's voice is so beautiful and powerful, the clearness that is unbelievable. I get more satisfaction listening to Sheena than Celion Dion's voice is not as crisp clear as Sheena. Well done Sheena, you are the star in my ears.

  46. A.... ....

It is a clear cut that Sheena Easton's voice is so beautiful and powerful, the clearness that is unbelievable. I get more satisfaction listening to Sheena than Celion Dion's voice is not as crisp clear Sheena. Well done Sheena, you are the star in my ears.

  47. D.... ....

ugh, why did Celine have to remake songs like this and If You Asked Me To? I love her but Sheena's version rules just like Patti's version of If you asked me to

  48. W.... D....

    What can I say?
If you have 2 superstars in their own right singing the same song, it will be great entertainment for the fans. I'm sure they have their own fans who will support them.

It is a tough choice, if I have the choose one between the two, I choose Sheena because she was my teenage idol! LOL.

  49. b.... ....

I'd listen to Sheena anyday before Celine.

  50. A.... C....

The most beautiful girl in the world! And what a voice, songs...

  51. t.... ....

I heard Sheena is a major Bitch in real life. Burned a lot of bridges and a real "diva" in a bad way.

  52. m.... ....

You are a moron. There is no "ripping off" of songs - artists have be re-recording others work since the dawn of music recording, and royalties are always paid - everybody wins - most especially the listeners, who are blessed with the diversities of taste in execution and choose whom they prefer to listen to.

  53. R.... ....

When does Celine Dion NOT 2 cover versions! (Usally bad replicas an all!) Sheena Easton does hav a v. good voice which got better with age. (She certainly sounds better than Dion anyway; goes without sayin I think)

  54. t.... ....

Yeah, you're right. Celine has this nasty habit of ripping off other artist's songs and making it 100x better than the original. Poor artist.

  55. R.... ....

Her version is fantastic. Yeah, Celine totally ripped her off. It's not the first or last time Celine's done that either. Listen to many of her covers. They're usually exact copies.

  56. T.... ....

Prefer this version to Celines purely because this is the original, and Celine sang it exactly the same.

  57. m.... ....

Wow, I always thought this was a Celine original. It was one of my favourites on her debut cd. They both did a great job, but I will give this one to Sheena, because Celine didn't do anything new to the song.

  58. S.... E....

Wow, I wasn't aware that Sheena sang this first! Celine clearly ripped it off, infact sang Sheena's version verbatum.

  59. m.... ....

    She can sing country too!

  60. h.... ....

I loved Sheena back in the day. Never heard this before. Maybe if the record companies had released stuff like this for her, she would still have a career today. This is one of my fave Celine Dion songs, but this version is very good indeed.

  61. b.... ....

didnt know that Sheena did this had only heard the Celine version -mmmm now i have a dilema !!

  62. M.... ....

Both sheena and Celine have their own great powerful unique voices, but i prefer Sheena s version she has a more cool style.. love you sheena!

    M.... ....

    Miami80sgirl disagree

    M.... ....

    +Viantz Pradz
Disagree with your disagreement. I love both versions of this song by Celine and Sheena, themselves.

  63. g.... ....

    Pink the last to know

  64. t.... ....

I really wanted to hear Sheena's version! Thank you for uploading this song.

  65. a.... w....

LOVE THIS!!! the cover is just stunning! just like her music, acting and everything! Thank you so very very much for posting this! What a wonderfully talented star! thank you! warmly.

  66. S.... C....

Great song...but the cover of Celine Dion is better :D

  67. B.... C....

This is a great song and she sings it with emotions. Not to make comparison here - but I still like Celine's version more. Thank you for this upload!
