I played this song every morning when the album first came out in 1980...looking out the window...towards the East...towards the rising-sun...hoping to turn my life into something good. They were words to live by. 40-years later and after an amazing life-journey I am now retired living a wonderful life and I STILL play this song. I have been listening to EWF for 46-years and for me EWF is/was cosmic-spiritual revelation and guidance through music and a true blessing.

Just yesterday, I was reminded that there are people who hide unspeakable pain, but the hiding emotional wounds cause physical sickness and disease. The good news is and this song reminds me, a person can turn it all around.

I bought this album on vinyl when it came out...still the BEST album I have ever heard...and I include all the great sixties groups ....the British groups/Motown etc....this album is OUTSTANDING

Awesome track best motivational song by the funky soul group ever

I remember my mum getting ready to go out her perfume her make up those cozy Autumn and summer nights. Excited for the future for spending time with my brothers and family. These were the days. I remember the happiness and smiles this music brought.

I Am and Faces are the pinnacle of MW and EW& F. The production, arrangement, musicianship and vocals on these 2 albums are unmatched in their genius. The horn arrangements are so complex and just weave in and out of all the songs on the albums in perfect fashion. Never understood why Faces did not get the respect it deserved.

Spirit is my favourite. It has all that you describe plus a real intimate feel.

I Am was my favorite when it came out in the late 70s but the older I got and Spirit is now. I have most of the albums on vinyl #EWF fan4Life <3 ;0

I've just learned that Valerie Carter, one of the writers of this beautifully uplifting song, has passed away. Oh I am so sorry to hear this, I always wanted to thank her personally for all that this song has meant to me and now I'll never get that chance. She had many challenges in her life, let us be thankful for her wonderful contribution in the form of this track. Such sad news indeed.
