There isn't a single song that Earth Wind and Fire can ever do bad, this is another example of their greatness, FOREVER EARTH WIND AND FIRE!!!!!

The genius of Maurice White will forever live on in the music of Earth Wind and Fire. He was the heart and soul of the group, RIP MASTER MAURICE.

Many critics hated it but when I bought the album back in 1983 I really liked it - I couldn't understand why there was so much dislike. basically they had to do something different

Actually they resisted change for years leading up to early 80s.
They only did one Disco song and didn't make a whole album out of it.
I personally quite liked Electric Universe too bad the band members needed a break around the same time and Philip Bailey want his own break so a hiatus in the 80s are not purely because of the album flopped.

@Barebare kun Yes the pressure of coming up with hits and using the same formula would have been too much. I remember Maurice White making a comment that he needed a break to refresh himself.

This is a great composition.

One of the finest songs by one of the greatest bands of the 70's and 80's! todays attempts at musicians could not even come remotely close to creating a sound as polished and tight as this!

Overall, perhaps the worst album by E,W&F.
But still better than many other highly acclaimed from other bands.

@rob morrison Thank you for providing much needed perspective. Artists can never be static and have to evolve based on styles and sensibilities. Maurice White's lead vocals with Philip Bailey covering background vocals were a welcome constant but synthetic instruments were now part of the mix.

Call me old school, but I will never tire of verse, chorus, and bridge. I believe music speaks to the state of the current culture and chaotic seems to be the prevalent style today.

Right. To those of you who have concluded that this Earth, Wind and Fire song/album is substandard, I would strongly suggest you give it another listen. Granted, we are all entitled to our singular and unique opinions, and it may not equal your view of their stellar rhythm and composition. However, it did in fact, exceeded beyond expectations, including and not limited to, most other music sales of the same and or similar category, based on global album sales at the time. Therefore, I quite understand your reluctance, but I would rather reaffirm the appeal and reputation of EWF from their heartfelt, soulful ballads to their instantly recognizable chart-topping hits. Founded and directed by the impeccable Maurice White, to the general populous, their accomplishments and impressive longevity, of what this nearly 50-year-old band (active since 1969) attained is unequaled and most assuredly unmistakable.

i was young in 1984 when i listened to "Touch".

It actually came out in 1983 (perhaps the single of "Touch" later however; but the album was from '83)

Reece rode this groove like a wave, the song I listen to in remembrance of him.

a little bit fast making tones sharp. I dont know the source of this track but the great tune is somewhat altered.

A great OVER LOOKED...under played EWF song. Radio can really write you off..when the powers that be don't recognize or RESPECT the artist/band..and the body of work! smh...fickle fans, fickle radio execs...and lack of PASSIONATE fans, listeners.
