Earl Thomas Conley - Dreaming's All I Do Lyrics

I woke up crying, I thought I had a dream
But you would not answer up when I called your name
I ran to my window but all I saw was rain
I know you're going somewhere girl I can feel the pain

But I wouldn't dream of sleeping with anyone but you
And anyone who knows me knows that I love you
No I wouldn't dream of sleeping with anyone but you
But anyone can tell you dreaming's all I do

You always were a gypsy drifting like the wind
You never met a stranger just another friend
A tender hearted lover in a white laced scam
But when it's time for leaving you always bring me down

But I wouldn't dream of sleeping with anyone but you
And anyone who knows me knows that I love you
No I wouldn't dream of sleeping with anyone but you
But anyone can tell you dreaming's all I do

Yes anyone will tell you dreaming's all I do

My brother, Phil Grissett, played guitars (lap steel incl), sang background vocals, & co-produced this album.

Wow! Somewhere between 1989 and 1992 my late husband and I saw Earl perform at the Thunderbird Swap Shop (drive-in) in Fort Lauderdale Florida. We were walking around before the show, which was taped for the Nashville Network. As we came around the rear corner or the building, a security person came around the other corner driving Earl and we almost ran into him. My husband had been trying to find this out of production album for me and he asked Earl if he had any suggestions. He didn't think there was anywhere to get it anymore and he laughed and said he wasn't giving up his copy, which we understood was a joke. Well Hal kept searching for the album and eventually found it. It was only ever made on vinyl. I still have it even though I no longer have a stereo to connect to Hal's old turntable. It's a treasure to me, even though I can't listen to it.

You were and are one lucky woman. I'm sorry if this is too personal, but, did you ever remarry?

JUST AS GOOD AS GOLD!!...Thank you soooo very much for posting and sharing this "rarely heard anymore" lil' country gem that became Earl's first top 40 single...it peaked at #32 on the charts back in March 1979...I thoroughly enjoyed it!...and the sound quality is TERRIFIC too!...Take care!! :)
