Eagles - My Man Lyrics
Tell me the truth, how do you feel?
Like you're rollin' so fast that you're spinnin' your wheels?
Don't feel too bad, you're not all alone
We're all tryin' to get along
With ev'rybody else try'n' to go their way
Just go along 'til they turn out the lights
There's nothin' we can do to fight it
No man's got it made till he's far beyond the pain
And we who must remain go on living just the same
I once knew a man, very talented guy
He'd sing for the people and people would cry
They knew that his song came from deep down inside
You could hear it in his voice and see it in his eyes
And so he traveled along, touch your heart, then be gone
Like a flower, he bloomed till that old hickory wind
Called him home
My man's got it made
He's gone far beyond the pain
And we who must remain go on living just the same
We who must remain go on laughing just the same

Eagles My Man Comments
I´m always feel alone, even when I´m not alone. And I´m always made my life by myself, nobody help me because I don´t have nobody and that sometimes hurts me, I don´t know how to explain that but I´m not really happy. And this songs, this music, this lyrics really has sense to me, to my life and help me to live, through all my problems. This music is freedom and freedom sometimes scares.

Sorry for my bad english, it's not my native language.
Who is on the vocals please?
Bernie Leadon is both lead vocalist and writer of this song. It was dedicated to his former bandmate Gram Parsons who passed away the year before this song was recorded.

The Eagles took a different direction after this album, and no-one can deny the stellar success they began to enjoy, deservedly so. But how many haunting songs like this were, in the process, lost forever?
My Man, (Mi Amigo) (2013 Remaster) · Eagles
una canzone meravigliosa
Great song from a great Eagles album. I don't care what Tom Waits thinks about them. Fuck 'em.
One of the better lesser known Eagle songs
Perfect Pedal Steel in this one...sounds like a shooting star sparkling its way up to heaven.
Still got this on vinyl...beautiful song
Pedal Steel is so appropriate when your Talking about Gram Parson
Especially The Flying Burrito Brothers and Sneaky Pete
My fav Eagles album.
The rolling stone review from 74 states that Leadon's voice on this track sounded like an interesting synthesis of Henley and Frey's vocal mannerisms and I gotta say they're right he's got Henley's earthy soulfulness and Glenn's nasally smoothness down pat
If the rest of the songs on this album were as good as this I would add it to my vinyl collection.
Do enjoy the Tom Waits Ol' 55

Best Eagles song ever, I think.
Pedal steel guitar adds so much to this beautiful song.
Feel the Bern! Some of my fav Eagles track were his. Twenty-one, Bitter Creek and this one.
Bitter Creek is badass! Such an underrated song from Desperado.
Feel the Bern
Damn. Just posted the same thing not realizing you beat me to it. Tip of the cap to your sense of humor.
So poignant, especially the last line, "we who must remain go on laughing just the same..." Sadly, true.
Where can i buy an only Bernie songs greatest hits??! All i need.
Here's to the Grievous Angel.
Classic Eagles - the Bernie Leadon years were the best the Eagles were - Jmho
I think so too!
I like a lot of different kinds of music. I especially appreciate the classics. There are a ton of great bands out there. But when I look at people and say the Eagles are the greatest band of all time every now and then I get somebody that looks at me like I'm crazy. They are like " of all time? " yep of all fucking time!.... yep I said it and I meant it!
Heard this song this morning while driving and listening to the wonderful Radio Caroline.
Forgotten how nice it was.
This is one of my favorite songs of all time.
Tell me the truth, do you really know anything about the band? That Parsons would be rolling in his grave if TRUMP were to be accepted by the American people. WAKE UP AMERICANS.
From the On The Border LP. This hit was ranked at #32 in Rolling Stone magazine's Eagles Edition. Written in memory of Gram Parsons. I saw The Eagles in May 2003 at the Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, SC.
I'm reading it right now. A great comprehensive addition for any Eagles fan. I also have the History of the Eagles DVD. If you haven't seen it, you need to. It's great. I saw them in 2013 and '15. Best shows of my life.
Nice tune, Bernie !
Can somebody help me make a list of songs that talk about gram? This one, one by emmylou , first aid kit, any more?
I can think of three by Emmylou; Boulder to Birmingham, The Road, and The Tulsa Queen and You Are Gone. He must have been quite a guy.
Crazy Eyes, by Poco
Here's another one. A French group, La Maison Tellier, recorded The Last Days of Gram Parsons. It's quite cool.
Nice that he got it back, doesn't happen very often. I find it funny how guitars become "sought after' or "valued" for their vintage nature. When I was in my first band back in 1982 you could buy 70's Strats all day long for 200 or 300 bucks. I bought one in a pawn shop for 90 dollars. Now everyone thinks they are gold. Same with old silverface Fender amps, people would groan "oh its a silverface" Now they are making reissues...haha
Bernie!
as a musician these guys and gram parsons made my style like theirs without even knowin
Duane Allman would approach Glen with the phrase "hey my man". Hence the song title.
Bernie Leadon wrote this
@Dave Loudin Thanks for the update Dave. The reference to Duane is correct, but it's a long time since I played this and I should have checked the writing credits. (personally I think the Eagles lost something after Bernie left)
@Rab Morrison No doubt they did..but they they did gain felder and walsh...if bernie had stayed it would have been interesting..he is still one of my fav guitar players..on a side note..just booked room 8 at the joshua tree inn(Grams Room) for a couple days this summer..should be fun.
I think ,it is one of Bernie Leadon's famous songs.
I love it!
One of my favorites. A song known only by true fans.
This song is so inspiring. I want it played at my funeral
A sad comment … but so heartfelt.
@highflyingnote once knew a man, a very talented guy......... touched my heart.
Take it easy.
My Man (Eagles from On The Border album 1974)
The song was written about Gram Parsons who wrote Hickory Wind. My heart is haunted that he has not been inducted into the country music hall of fame.
@Marc Sawatzki LOL!!
Not quite, both were in the Flying Burrito Brothers, but not at the same time.
Yeah I agree.
@Thomas Robertson Yes They were.
You could hear it in his voice, You can see it in his eyes...
I dedicate this track to My Man, the late, great Mac Miller. This song suits you perfectly bud. Probably was an Eagles fan too, no doubt. Unless he was like the Dude Lebowski and in that case that’s ok too.
You can almost hear Gram Parsons singing this.
Bernie Leadon...another beautiful soul.
Very true ...it's in one of Gram's favorite keys -F .
In loving memory of Glenn Frey....rest in peace hermano. May the Eagle always fly free. You will be missed forever!
Glenn Frey fired the man who wrote and is singing this song. The song is about Gram Parsons.
@The 1Pubeman I knew that....its just such a great song, it also fits Glenn now that he is gone. Fucking life, it is certainly ironic, isn't it? I miss them all. All Flyin' Burritos they were.
Let me start by saying that the Eagles are my favorite band ever. I love their music and I'm been fortunate to see them twice. Best concerts I've ever been to. That being said, as talented as Don and Glenn were, they were assholes. They ruled the roost, and if you didn't agree with them, you were out. They got rid of so much talent, just because they dared to voice their opinions about injustices within the band. Not a great way to lead a group in my opinion. They were very talented, but that says a lot about their character.
Anyone else thinks the 2de verse is about hank Williams sr
No, the entire song is about the great Gram Parsons.
Not sure if you’re heard “Hanks Cadillac” it’s worth a listen
I lost all interest in the Eagles after the fired Bernie..
You fucked up then.....The Eagles went on to make great music , if not better than when they had Bernie with them....
And yet you felt the need to express that.
@Jon Melander Well of course anus....some people give themselves so much importance by thinking that if they quit listening, the artist somehow is going to suffer. Dumb ass.
I prefer the Bernie era Eagles myself, though the Eagles definitely went on to make some great music after him.
And we who must remain, go on living just the same
I miss you Dad.
Can anyone help me find the instrumental of this song? i can't find it
Beautiful song about a beautiful man (Gram Parsons). Breaks my heart.
I still miss him...
My fav song with One of these nights. Sweet melodies and the unique voice of Bernie
THE FEELS, THEY ARE TOO MUCH!
Aren't their harmonies incredible?
true:33
That voice...
who's singing lead on this song?
+Gt racing15 Train leaves here this morning is another one Bernie sang on
Bernie sings Bitter Creek, Train leaves here this morning, Earlybird , I wish you peace and some others.
Bernie vocals are surperb......great lead vocals for this song🧡
There is a nice bluegrass song from Desperado called "Twenty One".
@Layton Richards Bernie Leadon was the bluegrass influence in the Eagles..mandolin,banjo etc he was too country, that's why he was shifted out !
