Dylan, Bob - What Can I Do For You ? Lyrics
You have given everything to me
What can I do for you ?
You have given me eyes to see
What can I do for You ?
Filled up a hunger that had always been denied
Opened up a door no man can shut and You opened it up so wide
And You've chosen me to be among the few
What can I do for You ?
You have laid down Your life for me
What can I do for You ?
You have explained every mystery
What can I do for You ?
He gets wise in his own eyes and he's made to believe a lie
Who could deliver him from the death he's bound to die ?
Well, You've done it all and there's no more anyone can pretend to do
What can I do for You ?
You have given all there is to give
What can I give for You ?
You have given me life to live
How can I live for You ?
I know all about poison, I know all about fiery darts
I don't care how rough the road is, show me where it starts
Whatever pleases You, tell it to my heart
Well, I don't deserve it but I sure did make it through
What can I do for You ?

Dylan, Bob What Can I Do For You ? Comments
This song changed my life 20 years ago today. Thanks Bob.
It's amazing how many great musicians who have worked with Dylan say they learned more in a year or year-and-a-half playing with Dylan than they did in the other 40 years in the music business. In a very unconventional since Dylan is musics for most virtuoso. They so you can't play guitar they say he can't sing they say he can't play harmonica but somehow he brings out emotions in people with all of his music quality and it's lyrics and is singing his phrasing his timing his intonation and his emotion that nobody else can really approach or touch. His musicianship may seem ragging on the surface but at its deepest level he is indeed a virtuoso
@DYLAN CHANGED EVERYTHING FOREVER yes indeed. Your screen name says it all.
Well, you’ve done it all and there’s no more anyone can pretend to do.
Best line ever. I treasure these Jesus songs
Priceless.
the best preacher ever is our bob
Oh my. Dylan on Sundays, perfect. Gospel blues so soulful and honest.
And how he makes love to that harmonica is a thing of beauty. God bless Bob Dylan 🙏
Love this era of Dylan's music. Thank You for sharing this awesome video 💖💖💖
Le juif Zimmerman reçoit le Christ!
Bob Dylan become Christian!
Where did you find this video??? I have both CD's.
THE JONATHAN KLECK
everything you can do for me bob i live in misery
marry me that can you do for me i am empty handed painter from your street
I believe it's Spooner Oldham on the organ with Bob (beautiful soulful Eb harmonica spotlight ending part)
How about the rhythm section from heaven Tim Drummond and Jim keltner? Those killer gospel backup singers and then Fred tackett from Little Feat?? Fred tackett is one of those musicians who says he learned more in those 3 years playing with Dylan that he than he did in any of his many many decades of playing music.
What a beautiful Brave and spiritual song. Dylan is willing to give it all up to God, to Jesus because all they have done for him. He really has a spirit in him and he I don't think, will ever lose it. He is so brave and strong in his faith, God bless him always please.

What a mouth organ😱
I saw two of his Gospel shows in Montreal - absolutely stunning!
What can do for you, what can I do for, ancients histories, tangled with as firefly anthem, harmonica jukebox you ???
L'armonica che si spegne sulle voci delle coriste, esprime la spiritualità del cristianesimo evangelico in termini moderni e sublimi
Sometimes I think this man is not a man , he's a GOD's gift ... for doing this awful world something more beatiful
An intense and passionate performance. I love the harmonica playing and the back-up gospel singers!
He came and went so quickly in and out of this phase I've always wondered if it was a put on...
doesnt sound like a put on . i knew people he went to Bible study with before he came out and they said it was very real . he is just working on a bigger canvas with his christian faith - like OH MERCY.
Even his new music is written from a biblical world view. He's an authentic believer imho
I suspect it just became more overt. Hard rain is written by the grace of God. On his last album he has a song called long and narrow way which is a obvious biblical reference
thanks for all your insights - agree, he's a man searching, as he wrote once, "searching for the Truth the way God designed it, but the real truth is I might be afraid to find it." [email protected]
@jay ziegler I'm glad you guys agree Dillon no doubt is still a believer when he finished his three years of intense gospel albums and tours he then recorded infidels which still had a lot of biblical themes but he said you know I'm through preaching in public even Jesus only preached for 3 years. He doesn't deserve all this material in 1986 he played in the garden with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers when he toured with them for a year and a half. And in 2019 gotta serve somebody was given the honor set closing position out of his main set throughout many of his scores of concerts in 2019 he rewrote a lot of the lyrics but but the chorus gotta serve somebody it can be the devil it can be the Lord is still there!
Dylan eterno e maravilhoso.
Watch the live recording of this song from Toronto as well...stunning.
The Toronto version is the tops. Sends chills.
I just can't get enough of him.. this is great!
I. Loved It!!! 💚
good night tonight, having discovered these gemstones of passion and conception...E
Yes it was some 65 million years ago God destroyed the dinosaurs ; they were made as God’s pets until Satan rebelled and made the flesh eating anything type monstrous ones. This song by Bobby was a long time coming but God’s plan unfolded just as His timeline is scriptural. Only serious Bible studiers can see the overall scriptural word ( Bobby’s one of )
This is the funniest fucking shit I've ever seen on the internet.
Paul Little Just a guess but I am thinking you having been a serious student of bible history . God has a sense of humour too ... He created you .
Yes, according to a Bronze Age myth that is demonstrably barbaric and false. You sure showed me!
@Paul Little Jesus did not live in the Bronze age but rather the common age and Dylan lives in the modern age as he expresses something that is not funny . this is a wonderful song that is NOT barbaric but full of thanks and civility .
Dylan en estado puro. Maravilloso.
I KNOW about the fiery darts
I Don't care how rough the road is
Show me where it starts ☝
Bob's harmonica always reminds me of Neil Young's electric guitar. For some STRANGE reason, it makes sense to the song. But it's crazy, a bit manic, and in your FACE. You have, given me ears to hear...may I listen to You?
Exactly very good point Neil Young guitar playing on electric guitar and Bob Dylan's harmonica playing AR two sides of the same coin but they get the job done they they drenched and dripping with emotion and it was not about the virtuoso harmonica playing or virtuoso guitar playing it's raw and motion and Dylan and Neil Young have it in spades are absolutely overflowing and drenched with it
I'd like to find this series where?
Amazon us store "Trouble No More" Bootleg set around $185, worth it, brilliant including DVD!
Loved Bob since I discovered Rock and Roll at 12. I’m 50 now and agree to me this period was my favorite as well as Infidels and Empire Burlesque.
Hi Malcolm
I bought mine from a Independent record shop but it is available through Amazon I paid £ 139.00 well worth every pound
Thanks for the reply apologies for the late reply.
put in the hymn book, why doesn't everyone think this is the best?
Diron New I know it is. Bob is a servant to God. How many churches would it take to deliver the word to as many as Bobby reaches , most sermons consist of one verse.❤️✝️
It is! Just the harmonica alone. Dylan is unsurpassed. He is a one-man music course. He is America's minstrel man!
What an amazing performance.
I was 20,21 when bob put out these records to me this is the best periods of Bob's musical journey
There is missing one harmonica solo :( Still awesome.
doesnt matter if yer a believer or not, alot of the lyrics can be very beneficial to people of all beliefs (or without 'em) and peeps just looking for some good fucking tunes.
dylan is a true prophet.
superr!!
I've just bought this series this Gospel DVD is awesome ,BOB DYLAN you rock ,
Is the DVD easily available?
@Malcolm Macleod yes. I believe if you go to Bob Dylan's Facebook page and his website bobdylan.com that's probably the most direct way but Amazon Craigslist who knows probably available there
