Dylan, Bob - In The Garden Lyrics
When they came for Him in the garden, did they know ?
When they came for Him in the garden, did they know ?
Did they know He was the Son of God, did they know that He was Lord ?
Did they hear when He told Peter, "Peter, put up your sword" ?
When they came for Him in the garden, did they know ?
When He spoke to them in the city, did they hear ?
When He spoke to them in the city, did they hear ?
Nicodemus came at night so he wouldn't be seen by men
Saying, ?Master, tell me why a man must be born again?
When He spoke to them in the city, did they hear ?
When He spoke to them in the city, did they hear ?
When He healed the blind and crippled, did they see ?
When He healed the blind and crippled, did they see ?
Same thing My Father do, I can do likewise"
When He healed the blind and crippled, did they see ?
When He healed the blind and crippled, did they see ?
Did they speak out against Him, did they dare ?
Did they speak out against Him, did they dare ?
The multitude wanted to make Him king, put a crown upon His head
Why did He slip away to a quiet place instead ?
Did they speak out against Him, did they dare ?
Did they speak out against Him, did they dare ?
When He rose from the dead, did they believe ?
When He rose from the dead, did they believe ?
He said, "All power is given to Me in heaven and on earth"
Did they know right then and there what that power was worth ?
When He rose from the dead, did they believe ?
When He rose from the dead, did they believe ?

Definitely the best version of this song, driven by the Heartbreakers and background vocals. So unlike the other renditions, and a defining live performance for someone who was starting to be forgotten by this time.
Stan Lynch on the drum-kit.. fantastic
Hey Bulldog!
Great version. As an atheist, I love his gospel music.
wow .... just found this by accident ... what a juwel
Gracias, Grazie, Gratias Tibi, Thank you so much Romilson....WoW 🙏
Thanks for nothing my friend
RIP the great Tom Petty
Any links to a full video out there?
I AM NOT KNOWING, I WILL TAKE THE DVD
Bob intuitively understood the different traditions of the best of American music. Folk, gospel, and rock. So American.
The burp was edited.
Tom Petty with the top hat 😍
There's the Holy Spirit all over these Bob Dylan Christian songs from the late 1970s to early 1980s. I hope Bob rediscovers the Holy Spirit in a big way before he dies, and stands tall for Jesus and the Holy Spirit again- Father, Son and Holy Spirit- three in one- all Persons of the Same Creator God- Jehovah in the Hebrew Bible
Good song indeed
Great show
gospel Dylan
I love it just like it I do love god
Perfect Easter song
This entire concert, backed by Tom Petty's band, was inspired.
From Bobs talk/Q&A with Bill Flanagan 22 mar 2017:
Which one of your songs do you think did not get the attention it deserved? “Brownsville Girl,” or maybe “In the Garden.”
http://bobdylan.com/news/qa-with-bill-flanagan/
Yeah that's fellow Wilbury Tom Petty and his Heartbreakers.
At least Dylan knows who to SERVE~!!!!!
Isn't it interesting how people can think they are so progressive or liberal or radical and can be so obtuse when it comes to things of the Spirit? The lesson to those who booed and walked out on Dylan because he saw further goes right back to how so many love the darkness rather than the Light, (where true liberty reigns...) Might as well shoot themselves in the foot and sever a few ligaments while they're at it! It kind of proves how shallow some are even after applauding a poet who's been through the depths. Extrapolate beyond that to considering our Lord suffering the cross for they who know not what they do... The bondage of religion is for people who are afraid of hell; spirituality is for those who have already been there. Atheism is inherently pseudo-intellectual and self limiting. They pathetically lack the mental architecture to consider omnipotence, omniscience & omnipresence. Nuttin' but chatty lil' brickheads! LOL!
R.Addison Arthur Amen so true! keep praying for the lost 😃😄😎💙👍✌✋☝👆
true as... ...went to a Kelly Joe phelps concert a few years ago and people walked out: too "Christ-y"... ...in this hippydippy lefty part of australia where people seal-clap over their love of diversity, openness, and inclusiveness...
a song with muscle. great version and the content of the lyrics is humbling and Bob and tom really pour their hearts out
A Million Likes For This Song-Very Powerful!!!!!!!
Obrigado
starfisher87 the truth has power power of God, blood of Jesus 😃😄😂
Hey starfisher87 : Your comment reminds me of another brilliant set of lyrics from Bob Dylan: "Then along came Jones, emptied the trash, everybody went down, to that Million dollar bash. Ooh, baby, ooh-ee, Ooh, baby, ooh-ee, it's that million dollar bash." Thanks for 'bringing it all back home'.
Bob showing power. The power he have behind his back.

ESTA GERAÇÃO QUER UM SINAL. NEM MESMO DIANTE DE TUDO QUE FOI FEITO, AINDA ASSIM QUEREM UM SINAL. SEUS OLHOS ESTÃO SELADOS. SEUS CORAÇÕES ENDURECIDOS. SEUS SENTIMENTOS ANESTESIADOS. PARA QUÊ UM MAIS UM SINAL? TAL COMO NO PRINCÍPIO, APENAS A FÉ RESISTIRÁ
are you able to get like a rolling stone from this show on youtube? thanks
Muchas, mil, Gracias. Thank you for posting this song. I added it to a fb comment. I have the concert on a dvd somewhere, have not heard it in ages. If you ever consider a repost and if you have the ability to, is it possible to post a couple moments prior to the startup of the song where Bob talks to the audience about heros and then tells them who his is? It is what I hoped would be here with your post today but I gotta tell ya, I have looked for this here more than once for some time and somehow today you made it available. Thanks again.
Yes, when he talked about Bruce Springsteen, etc.
estou postando com a introdução, obrigado pelo comentário, obrigado a todos, pelos comentários.
did they know ?
love this song, also loved bobs intro to the song, but cant find it now
Yes the intro is missing.
hard to handle. google.
Slow Train Coming is the best album Dylan ever did. I think its prophetic. And Mark Knopfler is doing a great job both as producer and guitar player. My favorite on this album is "I believe in you". But I like "When He returns", as well. Jesus is coming soon. Yes, Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!
God bless you, my friend and brother Jose. Mercy and peace be with you in Jesus name.
Ditto, ditto!
Kai Falck I disagree,
Saved is pretty Awesome🙏✌️❤️😘
Heartbreaking song with a profound description of the suffering of our Lord Jesus in the garden of Gethsamane. One of his best songs
this is fantastic,more please?
Not many knows. Not many sees. Not many hears. But me, I see. I hear. I believe - in Yeshua.
This is the best song Dylan ever wrote. So unlike all the other songs he ever did. Majestic. Advanced. Spiritual war. Posing the question: Did they hear? Did they see? Jesus, the Messiah. Right then and there. In the garden. They heard him. They saw him. But they didn't believe in Him.
Wow! What a song! This is my favorite. :)
I believe you are Right-What a Great Song!
Kai Falck Amen !
It is heavy.
Dan Steely zz
I agree Kai. For almost 40 years I've been getting encouragement from this song.
My favorite. Thanks for sharing. All the other ones keep getting erased. I wish you could get a version of him speaking before the song!!!!!!
