I never quite understood the appeal of Bob Dylan. While he sings ok, I prefer someone who can move me with their voice. He does not.

Yeah. Really sad. If there’s anything moving about him it is his voice. Dylan is a pop star whose best music is high art. And high art is not for everyone

I can think of 2 other geniuses (Leonard Cohen and Tom Waits) who, like Bob, despite the limits of their voices, are amazing, legendary singer/songwriters.......

Most prolific songwriters: Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Lennon/McCartney, ... am I leaving anyone out?

Without Dylan, my friend, likely none of these folks ever get started. At least, not in the way it happened. Guy's a master... and if you dont get it, perhaps youre not digging deep enough. Or, in the right places. May I suggest 'Idiot Wind' off Blood On the Tracks, 'One More Cup of Coffee' off Desire, 'Maggie's Farm,' 'Hard Rain's Gonna Fall,' the first 4 songs off Live Bootleg '66, Disc Two, 'Cold Irons Bound' off Masked & Anonymous DVD... Yes, these are very specific, but sometimes you have to work to find the best Dylan. Guy's got tons of material, and not all of it is stellar, but the best is near-divine. Dont give up, Dylan's an adventure.....and, he's still alive! It's not too late to cross his path. I recommend it highly. So, get to it. He is not what or who you think. Trust me on that. The diversity and range of the above recommendations will prove that out.

Btw: John Lennon adored Dylan -- wanted to BE him. And, I'm sure all the rest did too.

Like so many other of Bob's tunes... I'll all of a sudden (after many listening's) "get it" This is one of those songs. I NOW consider this one of Bob's best songs. Great melody too :) I think Ringo plays on this song.
