Dwight Yoakam - Louisville Lyrics

I've been waiting here in Louisville
Lots of time to kill, waiting here for you
I've had to get a job in Louisville
'Cause my hotel bill is six weeks overdue

You come to see here believing
That Kentucky was half away
I love this old river town but I never meant to stay
I've been waiting here in Louisville
You got until my bus leaves for LA

Let's not fool ourselves there's something wrong
You don't belong to me now I can tell
Six long weeks this took, but it's a game
You never meant to come to Louisville

You come to see here believing
That Kentucky was half away
I love this old river town but I never meant to stay
I've been waiting here in Louisville
You got until my bus leaves for LA

You come to see here believing
That Kentucky was half away
I love this old river town but I never meant to stay
Six long weeks this took but it's a game
You never meant to come here anyway

I've been waiting here in Louisville
You got until my bus leaves for LA
You got until my bus leaves for LA

It depends on where you are from in KY or Southern Indiana how you pronounce Louisville. In eastern Ky they do pronounce Louisville as Louie-ville. I have lived all over this state from Owensboro to Middlesbrough I also been all over the great state from Fulton KY to Pikeville KY. I do live here in the bluegrass

Most common casual pronunciation in Lexington: Luhville.
