Dusty Springfield - Who (Will Take My Place) Lyrics

Who, when my life is through?
Who will know the joy
I have known with you?
Who will touch your face?
Sleep in your embrace?
Who will take my place
When I sleep alone?

Who, when the day is done?
Who will hold the hand
Of my only one?
Who will climb the heights?
Finding in your nights
All those wild delights
Only I have known

You say you'll always love me
Time has another claim
Why do the gods above me
Play the cynical game?

Oh, life, isn't what it seems
Fickle as the wind
Fragile as a dream
When I end my years
Who will ease my pain?
Kiss away my tears?
And bury me again?

This track,by Dusty or Scott Walker, is fantastic

  2. B.... M....

No one could ever take Dusty Springfield place. RIP angel

  3. D.... ....

I love her take on this song. Also the album cover photo is one of my favorite of Dusty

  4. T.... N....

If it were true that people like Dusty Springfield visit then disappear it would be way unfair, since the world is a illusion in our mind its easier to enjoy their talents while they are in our minds, then disappear....

    T.... N....

She was brutally treated in the 60's and 70's because she sounded "Black" and did back-up vocals for some great Black singers such as Martha Reeves and the Vandellas. What a savage world.

  5. R.... B....

    one of her best songs.

    R.... B....

    Understated, elegant, poignant. Pure art.

  6. M.... ....

Great song, great performance, one of my favourite songs from Dusty Springfield.
