Magic. I didn't get into DD till about 84 and this one passed me by. Just love it though

So cool. My buddy and I used to order records from a shop called Record Runner in NYC; I think it's still there. This was back in '85. The world was smaller then, and there was something very magical about coming home from school and seeing that record-sized box sitting on my doorstep. Gems like this were the treasure inside. Good memories and the songs are still meaningful.

DuranDuran know how to play music to take you to another place and time. Genius. The always make sound and voice haunting and magical. Love them all with all my heart and soul💓❤💕💓

Not only is Simons amazing lyrics and harmonies epic.... John and Roger keep the haunting tempo and beat while Nick Rhodes arrangements and Andy Taylors guitar riffs just make magic. Love this band forever💕

Love the bass on this....there's a live version of this on the BBC In Concert: Hammersmith Odeon album which is even better than the studio b-side. It's rare that a live version beats out a studio release, but this one is an exception.

believe it or not this is my first time hearing this song. I heard it mentioned but it was on the first version of the first album that wasn't released here in the u.s  its a great song and I am glad I got to hear it after 33 years of being a fan.

It was early 1981, around the time they released their single "Careless Memories", and "Khanada" being a B-side to the single.

as a huge Duran Duran fan from the beginning, this is the last 'lost' or "B-side" I had never heard...not great but reminds me of the glory days of Simon's voice

+Darren c Totally agree re Si's voice in this period. Thought I was alone in thinking his voice in the early period was his best, whether technically pitch- perfect or not. That raw quality is just gorgeous and less nasally imo.

+Philip Lovings Oh for sure Philip! We would take the bus to Westwood here in Los Angeles to hunt for the b sides only! We had only one shop to find them!! 2 hours on the RTD. Once home, never-ending replay on the record player! Then the needle broke. It was the death of us. :)

I agree, their early work showed DD the raw talent and their contributions for Pop Music are indelible, their first three albums, Duran Duran, Rio and Seven and the Ragged Tiger were and STILL are gems to their 80's success.

+ohmygodnoway a WOW! Very bold statement... but, I'm a music lover... my roots traces back right after the Beatles' split-up. So, honestly... can't make that kind of judgement, 'cos of the gap between them... keep in mind, The Beatles were a group which was influenced by the 60's music. And those, including, myself felt the influence... however, I started listening to DD in early 1983, at the height of their second album "Rio", which to this date... I consider that album, our 80s answer to The Beatles' "Sgt. Pepper"... and those are REALLY BOLDER words to say, 'cos, I know people that were born before me will disagree on that statement, yet... like John Taylor would say, "I do, what I do"... 'nuff said!!! Hee, Hee!!!

That's like comparing apples to oranges. They are two completely different types of bands from different eras. The Beatles were a highly influential rock band during the 1960's while Duran Duran had it's own unique rock/pop sound that grew out of the early 1980's. They are both great bands. The synthesizer was the instrument that evolved music from the 1970's into the 80's and beyond, with titles such as Roxy Music and Gary Numan & The Tubeway Army.

The song "Khanada" (pronounced "keh-NAY-duh") was included as the B-side to the single. It is reported to have been written for fashion designer Jane Kahn who owned, with partner Patti Bell, the Hurst Street shop Kahn & Bell where Duran Duran (and numerous other clubgoers of the day) shopped for clothes.

Suggestion... the best anthology of Duran Duran are "The Singles 81-85" Box Set, and also "The Singles 1986-1995" Box Set... in my view, THE BEST COMPILATION since Decade and Greatest.

Blame it on EMI... and I confess, I have a their two Singles Box Sets... those B-sides and Remixes are top draw, in my book. I became a Duranie back in 1983... at the height of "Rio" and "Seven & The Ragged Tiger"... When I bought their self-titled "Duran Duran... it was a mere re-issue album... nonetheless, I'm rediscovering all those treasures thru "bootlegs", and some remixes never heard... and this version of "Khanada" was one of those...
