Drifters, The - She Never Talked To Me That Way Lyrics

I went down to the railroad station, Honey (Honey)
Overheard a conversation, Honey (Honey)
You were talking
To a guy named Jim
The things that
You were telling him
You just talked and talked so endlessly
And still my eyes, I could not see
You never talked to me that way, Honey (Honey)

Oh Honey (Honey)

Well you talked about your past and future, Honey
About the kind of man that you thought would suit ya, Honey (Honey)
And then you told him
What a man should do
If he wants to be loved by you
You talked and talked so endlessly
'Til still my eyes, I could not see
You never talked to me that way, Honey (Honey)

Oh Honey (Honey)

You told me there'd never be
Anyone else for you
You swore your love was true
How could you do this to me?
Makin' me cry like that
Oh my, I could die like that

The stars came out by the railroad station, Honey (Honey)
Oh, but you still carried on with your conversation, Honey (Honey)
And then he kissed you
And I heard you sigh
It was time for
Me to say good bye
You just kissed and kissed
So endlessly
And still my eyes, I could not see
You never, never, never, never kissed me that way, Honey (Honey)

Oh Honey (Honey)

I love you, Honey (Honey)

omg lol just heard del shannon's version. Poor people of the 60's got stuck with that version and not this one. Really? Well atleast you got gold with Connie Francis and the drifters this magic moment. What a crime that this was not out =/

  9. R.... M....

    Sounds a lot like Spector

  10. D.... .....

I never heard this one before. I like it.

  11. B.... M....

this not Ben E King. this is Rudy Lewis up on the roof and Broadway

  12. M.... B....

This is not the Drifters but Ben E. King from his first solo LP - I believe.

    M.... B....

+Michael Blædel  Your belief would be incorrect.

    M.... B....

This isn't even Ben. It's Rudy Lewis.

  13. S.... S....

Funny how things turn out. I loved Rudy Lewis' voice, but Johnny Moore was probably best for Under The Boardwalk. The rest is history.

  14. M.... L....

Oh man is this a good one!

  15. B.... G....

How many songs have a train chugging through them?

    @PJDooWop
i've read somewhere that on the track: "when my little girl is smiling", rudy lewis sings the intro and charlie thomas sings the rest of the song.
could that be what you were thinking of?
btw, it's criminal that this song wasn't initially released. should have been a monster!

  22. P.... ....

This was unreleased. From what I read the song was unfinished. Apparently both Rudy Lewis and Charlie Thomas do lead in different parts of this song, but it sounds like the same lead throughout the song to me. Charlie Thomas and Rudy Lewis do sound incredibly alike, so it's not impossible.

"When My Little Girl is Smiling" definitely has both singers on lead. Rudy Lewis sings the intro and Charlie Thomas takes over from there.
