My grandma and greatgrandma use to always play the drifters when my mom and I use to visit my grandmother and since they past my mom have the whole drifters collection and thats really cool I listen to the drifters too great music

Drifters had more than 100 members over time. More an 'institution' than a band, but the core members, esp Clyde Mc Phatter, Ben. E .King, Rudy Lewis, Johhny Moore et.al. made such beautiful music it will never die.

there are still some excellent singers in the uk that can do the same sound as the drifters all good singers in thefe own right one of tge best groups here are called Orthello who are currently touring here the uk and tell a wonderful story of Ben E King And The Drifters so they do live on so great to hear them well worth a visit

Love this song; my drifter's childhood favorite before I ever felt the pain of heartache. But I got the message at age 7.

Not their biggest hit, but one of my faves. Not a group out there today that is better than Drifters and Moore.

Some kind of wonderful! The Drifters had so many personnel changes over the years, that they had several great lead singers. Johnny Moore led beautifully on some 25 including this, Ruby Baby, Under the Boardwalk, Sand in My Shoes, & Saturday Night at the Movies. The other day I sang the last 2 to my lovely nieces (ages 18 & 20), so now I'll send them the link to this one. Few of today's hits can compare with the melodies, lyrics, vocals and instrumental arrangements of the golden age of rock, R&B, and soul. I've waited in vain for 49 years for another Otis Redding, for example. But I do like Bruno Mars. So there's hope.

Mann-Weil composition trying to recall "Save the Last Dance". Fine vocal job by Johnny Moore who took over from Rudy Lewis and became to groups leadsinger for the next two years, peaking with "Sand in My Shoes".

Johnny Moore actually did this song while Rudy Lewis was still a member of the Drifters. They brought him back in the group because they suspected Rudy was planning a solo career. He was a great singer nonetheless and didn't get his due recognition.
