A warm sounding vocal. A lush guitar melody. An accessible arrangement all wrapped up in a sneakily accessible "power pop" tune that could have snuck onto radio, if radio had any damned sense. The best song on the record, IMHO.

They want to emphasize how important it is to pray, in secrecy, so that the Heavenly Father will hear you and reward you, openly. God is a jealous god and does not want outsiders to hear the conversations that we have with Him. That is how our relationships with our spouses should also be. I don't have a spouse, sadly, but this is still the truth. It is common sense!

A lot of U2 inspiration in this one.

For all those grunting about this being a bad U2 inspired song, you do not understand something important about DT! I am not a person content with only one style of music, which most bands deliver, and so I've always admired DT for their diversity, it is actually the reason why I do not like the last two albums (2013, 2016). I actually like this song very much, not only because it is so full of energy and LaBrie's singing sounds great, but also it is still progressive, because for pop bands standard this is still better. DT has always been able to surprise within a song, be it complex rhytms, sudden meter changes, wonderful harmonic transitions, drawing ideas from other genres of music like blues and jazz, etc. and it only shows how evolved musicians DT really are. This song being on the same album as Octavarium, or Root of All Evil is one of those common DT surprises. So fuck off those saying this song sucks, it is just you not being able to fully appreciate the DT potential !!

They've been writing incredible songs for over 2 decades , not every song has to be a 13 min or longer masterpiece . We all know and love those songs.
THEY ARE NOTHING IF NOT (to put it mildly ) VERSATILE. this song is.a awesome song because they stepped back abit and proved if they want to they can play a song that your average radio listener can understand and like .

It's boring, I like some of their other shorter songs way more. Maybe it wasn't as mediocre back then but I do not think it has aged well, at times at least.

sure it is a bit more poppy than other DT songs, but they pulled it off properly. Had this been preformed by anyone else, it wouldn't have been anything. Dream Theater's most valuable quality is their versatility in my opinion.

as a hardcore DT fan, I am deeply disappointed by this and although I love "Panic Attack"' and "The Root of All Evil", this album is a shame... Sure you don't need to compare it to Train of Thought but how could you??? I hear Megadeth solos, Alice in Chains grunge and Faith No More keyboard themes all over it. Plus this radio shit...
