Dreadnoughts, The - Joli Rouge Lyrics
From France we get the Brandy
From Martinique the rum
Sweet red Cabernet
From Italy does come
But the fairest of 'em all me boys
Is made from apples
Up the mighty Saguenay
So, follow me lads
'Cause this 'ain't no grog or ale
One pint down you'll be swingin' in the gale
Five pints bully, you'll be shakin' in your shoes
We're half-seas over on the Joli Rouge
She's called the Dreadnought Cider
And when the day is over
Sure, I wish that she were mine
Or in the dark of winter, or on a summer's eve
One hand giveth and the other doth receive
So, follow me lads
'Cause this 'ain't no grog or ale
One pint down you'll be swingin' in the gale
Five pints bully, you'll be shakin' in your shoes
We're half-seas over on the Joli Rouge
So turn your sails over
And bring her hard to port
Find that little star and fly
Straight into the north
The wild sun upon your back
The wind a-blowing free
You're rolling down the river boys
To old Chicoutimi
So, follow me lads
'Cause this 'ain't no grog or ale
One pint down you'll be swingin' in the gale
Five pints bully, you'll be shakin' in your shoes
We're half-seas over on the Joli Rouge
So you can have a Magners
And pour it over ice
Or you can have a Strongbow
If it's sadness that you like
Or join us up the river
And we'll set your heart aglow
And how you'll feel
When the real cider starts to flow
So, follow me lads
'Cause this 'ain't no grog or ale
One pint down you'll be swingin' in the gale
Five pints bully, you'll be shakin' in your shoes
We're half-seas over on the Joli Rouge
So, follow me lads
'Cause this 'ain't no grog or ale
One pint down you'll be swingin' in the gale
Five pints bully, you'll be shakin' in your shoes
We're half-seas over on the Joli Rouge

Dreadnoughts, The Joli Rouge Comments
Angry Orchard is better tho
You know... this would be a good advertisement for cider!
Never before someone wrote a song about Canadian piss
need meself this cider anyone any leads?
if anyone is interested:
the cider they are drinking about is called "The Dreadnought" which is a type of apple cider.
Saguenay
is a river as well as a city in Quebec Canada where a apple cider distillery will be/ is open
where they will be having this particular cider as one of the ciders in their assortment
tells about the dreadnought type of apple cider: http://www.blackmountainciderworks.com/cider-styles
tells more about the joli rouge cider company: https://www.lequotidien.com/affaires/une-premiere-cidrerie-industrielle-au-saguenay-285a3df28aa211a33088a6c7065266fc?fbclid=IwAR2cDi4Li1bVuu8wq8Ry6Dp1M1ivHNUkoh_60ccJjKXeN8j-g24386t4oy4&utm_medium=facebook&utm_source=dlvr.it

It's metal and a sea shanty just its perfect

This song is like a mug of cider...
It leaves me thirsty for more.

ON MY MAMA DIS BE DA CLAPPINIST MUHFUGGIN SONG I E'ER HEARD GOD DAMN
Wish I had some likeminded mates to get drunk and sing this with...
Nice song, but it's just scrumpy presumably. I'm sure I could hack a good ten of fifteen pints of it.
As of now as far as I'm concerned this is the best shanty I found and I've been digging
"So what kind of music you listen to?"
"Arrr, it be complicated Lass..."
I usually just say something like "folk rock" and leave it at that. It's not a lie, because I also listen to crazy shit like Serbian turbofolk and Punjab metal.
@A Forerunner A huge section of my friends do. And most of us sing it socially. There's a lot of folkies around if you look.
@That Asshole in The Comment Section did you mean Bloodywood ?
Tractates same
"Shantypunk"
I gave the 1234th like :D

Why did shanties ever go out of style **sigh**
There's far more people singing them now than a few years back.
its hard to sing shanties over the scream of a cat engine but by god we try
Shanties are the working man's songs, and as such high society has always been _too good_ for them. It wouldn't do to enjoy the same things as the POOR, you see. It's the same reason spices fell out of vogue once they became affordable for the middle class--you ever wonder why literal wars were fought for spices but nowadays haute cuisine is all about using as few as possible, just pure meat flavor? It's snobbery.
So shanties will never be something you see the rich and powerful push. But that really just makes them better, ain't it?
They're out of style? I wouldn't know...
Ye shanties was always for chosen lads
Why didn't I know that The Dreadnoughts had released a new song
They also made a whole album to go with it
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4V72_QLrRg&list=PLWEJUsxb8T4tddnYaNEX7581eTEJyM2so&index=1
I already found out but thanks anyway
One more day, me boys
Great tune
I need some joli rouge ... epic .. cant wait to hear the album
These guys should've done the Assassin's Creed Blackflag Soundtrack.
@10,000 subs with no videos? they did do the blackflag soundtrack friend
+MarcellsAdventures: wait...when?
@MarcellsAdventures
They didn't. Sean Dagher sung the shanties for black flag.
@Emigamerul Prove that
@Akasame https://youtu.be/BLRUXHm7CQ0 While this is not my video, the build is similar to the one I managed to run the game. The exact build I tested was a i5-5500, 2gb RAM, GT960M. The test is quite similar to the one in the video, except there is more staggering and it cannot pass over 15 frames, however it is still playable(for me at least).
time to make another pirate ship in minecraft
A fine use of anyone's time
wait this is the actual band what the frick
@Darth Cyborg no it's an evil clone
brah the boys are back
Супер!
Пойду пить Кальвадос.
You're my fav band! Made my fucking day with this! I really wanna hear the rest. Rock on!
OMG! can't wait for the rest. I started playing accordion a year ago when I discovered Polka Never Dies! Inspirational music, my favorite band by far!
I Need More Pirate Polka, Please.
Such as a great band
Hmm.... This Sounds Like They Be Drinkin' Johnny Jump Up To Me.
rate eightx never again...
7th time hearing it today!!
I checked their Bandcamp; IT'S GOING TO INCLUDE A COVER OF NORTHWEST PASSAGE, AND IF I WERE TO GUESS WHAT "DEAR OLD STAN" IS, SOMETHING IN TRIBUTE TO STAN ROGERS! HOLY FUCK THIS IS GOING TO BE AWESOME!
YASSSSS!!!!
I can't stop listening to it.. I think I'm addicted to this now.
woah, looks like i got into dreadnoughts just in time for a new album
Welcome, because it's going to be awesome I can feel it!
My god i have to get the full album!!
I like texture of the accordion rhythm as well as the rhythm at the chorus. It lends itself to a “stomp, stomp, clap” participation from the audience/rest of the crew. Perfect for a shanty. Fucking epic. Keep it up my lads!
80% sure that is a concertina
@Antimattercarp Even though the Concertina would be expected for sea shanties like this one, they use an accordion.
You can tell because of the fuller sound(the accordion uses more reeds), and in their live shows they use an accordion aswell
Ah, yes.
*Enslaved badassery.*
I appreciate the Strongbow diss
guys can you recommend any really good cider? I always heard strongbow was kinda good but I never tried anything
@Speaderx35 It may seem kind of pedestrian but TBH I really like Angry Orchard. Uncle John's is good, too. For something more upmarket, Zombie Killer can't be beat. (the last two are made locally to me so I don't know about their availability elsewhere)
@YamiNoSensei13 thank you very much man
I was just looking around where I can get some of the Said Ciders but sadly none of them ship to the EU :(
@Speaderx35 Honestly, Strongbow's not bad. But I go with Angry Orchard.
Angry Orchard... woodchuck... strongbow... ye gods, we have so far to go with you people...
Can’t wait or the rest boyos. Sounds awesome

Thanks! You inverted the second and the third verses though ;) .
The intro reminds me of Wintergatan
cant wait for more
It´s awesome!!! I can´t wait for listen to the entire album
I was waiting for more heat from the dreads. And they fucking delivered.
Man I can't get enough of this!
AND HOW YOU'LL FELL WHEN THE REAL CIDER STARTS TO FLOW !
i'll probably be shouting this line throughout me whole life from now on, especially after the fifth pint
OO ARRRR!!!!!!
Can't find lyrics anywhere
Because it literally just came out, and sounds like an original.
Someone (iron magician) posted them in the comments near the top
@Charles Perlstein saw them already, thanks anyway
Pretty epiC doe
BOIIIIIIIII THIS HITTED LIKE A TRAIN, TRULY DIDN'T EXPECTED IT, IS AMAZING
You could say it hit like
5 pints of cider
Listening in loop waiting for the new songs. In one thousand years we'll still sing sea shanties and dance on polka!
Long live the Dreadnoughts!
Listened to that like 20 times already. Can't wait for the rest.
I enjoyed this very much! Keep up the great work!
Absolutely amazing! I love yours music
