Drake, Nick - They're Leaving Me Behind Lyrics

The tramp moves on to the end of the street
I listen to the echo of his hobnail feet
For some there's a future to find
But I think they're leaving me behind.

The world humes on at its breakneck pace
People fly in their lifelong race
For them there's a future to find
But I think they're leaving me behind.

The chances they come, but the chances have been lost
Success can be gained, but at too great a cost
For some there's a future to find
But I think they're leaving me behind.

The wind sweeps up and goes back to its tree
The rain flows by and moves to the sea
For them there's a future to find
But I think they're leaving me behind.

I love how you can hear that little misstep in the guitar near the end. Love the rawness and imperfection on this album. Nick Drake is definitely one of my favorite songwriters still.

this is heartbreakingly beautiful, it is liquid gold and yet so painful to listen to

Seven thousand six hundred and forty four of us who have are being left behind. It is OK, we like it right here. Not alone, no.

Gerald Turner, this resonates with how I feel on a miraculous level. the sound, the feel, everything. Glad you enjoy what I consider some of the best music ever created.

    this song gives me chills.
