I heard this song for all of five seconds on a small radio station before I walked into work this morning at three forty in the morning. Five seconds is all it took for me to fall in love with song. I committed what little lyrics I heard, and I googled the lyrics as soon as I got home.

Have had the extreme pleasure and privilege of seeing him live over a dozen times in my life and although band members changed, he was always there and always awesome 👍👍✌♥️🤗🤗🎶🎤🤠

I still know all the words from listening to Dr. Hook n the Medicine Gang greatest hits CD on what felt like repeat for months in my Dads car, I was probably 7-8 years old (I can only imagine what my Mom thought about me singing this song lol).

I am 31 years old and still get the same joy and spark to my soul listening and singing along to this song. Especially as soon as the horns just blare in after the first verse @ 00:51

i came back form a tough time in Vietnam. i was nurse. i just lost it and hung out at bars feeling sorry for myself when i came home. i met my husband at this certain bar, and he saved me. i.stopped feeling sorry for myself and life is good now. this song means a lot to me.
