Downie, Gord - Wolf's Home Lyrics

Hey kids, wolf's home
He drops into his easy chair
Stares up out blank
Then bids his family come and gather' round his chair
Then clears his throat
No one knows quite to expect
Says 'Man's a god'
When he dreams and a beggar when he reflects

My life of get and get
Got more than most and yet
I didn't run
I didn't vanish when I was afraid
I never asked
How many out there
I only asked where are they

My life of get and get
I've got more than most and yet

I got great touch
I learnt to vanish when I was afraid
I don't know much
But I don't try not to try
I don't do what I hate

In my life of get and get
I've got more than most and yet
The love of heart and target
The stereo has started
All the brokenhearted
All I want is
The dearly departed
All the hurts I started
Young and old poor-hearted
All I want is
All I've been afforded
My life, my love distorted
It's its own reward but all I want is you

All I want is you
All I want is you
All I want is you

Tell me of a person who can put words together like Gord.

  3. M.... P....

I just bought the cd but hasn't opened it yet. On monday I will leave my apartement in the city for good and move into a camper in the countryside. There I will open up the cd and let the music fill my camper.
    This is so beautiful.

  4. M.... F....

This is my favorite song on the album. I don't know who it is about though.

  5. T.... D....

At around 3:03, it sounds like he quietly whispers "fuck." Wow.

  6. r.... a....

from Brazil, i love so much Gord !!

  7. l.... b....

I may be young but I'm young enough to know when someone has real talent and not like those people who makes music about things that don't matter. We call miss you Gord.

  8. S.... S....

Yes this is my fav on this album! I have to hear it at least a few times more whenever I play it.

  9. T.... H....

Gord's gone and I never even got to go to a Hip concert... I realized this before, but now it's really hit me...

    T.... H....

Being young sucks sometimes, I didn't realize how little time I had to go see them.

Atleast I watched the live concert

    T.... H....

I live in the States and I didn't even know about Gord until a few years ago. Fell in love with his music and now he's gone. I understand how you feel about never going to a HIP concert. I feel the same.

    T.... H....

I know the feeling and I was young when they hit big. Never made the time. Makes me think about a lot of my decisions. Now I realize, way too late, that my life fits into various Hip lyrics. Sigh. It's a good life if...

  10. C.... P....

Does anyone hear the wire song Drill?

  11. C.... B....

This is gonna blow up soon.

  12. H.... ....

    LYRIC VIDEO PLEASE!!!!

  13. M.... L....

I heard the iTunes preview of this song, and my calm composure completely collapsed into my uncontrollable sobbing. Those parts that he hits those high notes hit my heart so incredibly hard. You know he's weakened by his illness, and he's truly digging deep into himself to be able to get to those notes. He gave every speck of his strength into this album, and it's impossible to appreciate him and his poetry to the level it deserves. Gord, you will never be forgotten. Thank you for having such a beautiful soul.

    M.... L....

After 3 weeks I can finally listen to this album in its entirety and not cry. When his loss was so fresh I just couldn't handle it. Now I smile as I hear each song. God I love Gord Downie.

@Shele Grimm I couldn't watch the Kingston concert for almost a year after Gord died. Now it's on my regular playlist, but it took a while to be able to smile listening to the Hip.

  14. R.... B....

I listen to this, bawling my eyes out, tears falling into
the dishwater......... RIP, Gord. I'll NEVER forget you for inviting me
specially to your first ever worldwide podcast of Coke Machine Glow, after you
read my review of your book of poems by the same title. It was the first live
music podcast on the Internet, I was front row center, you in the spotlight,
and a spotlight still shines on that memory of mine. Baa maa pii, see  you down the road..........Much love <3

  15. I.... ....

This was on spotify for new song friday and this is just so good

  16. H.... F....

I herd this one on the radio the other day and I really loved it reminds me a bit of his secret path style

    H.... F....

Heidi Falzon most these songs could be squeezed between any 2 secret path songs. Even hints of mmp throughout, all same time frame and production team for a 3-4 year period.

    H.... F....

V Dogg I really love it I know it's going to b a hit I have a wonderful ear for music and as soon as I herd it it drew me In :)
