Doris Day - Shaking The Blues Away Lyrics

There's an old superstition 'way down south
Everybody believes that trouble won't stay
If you shake it away

When they hold a revival way down south
Everybody with care and trouble that day
Tries to shake it away

Shaking the blues away, unhappy news away
If you are blue, it's easy to
Shake off your cares and troubles

Telling the blues to go, they may refuse to go
But as a rule, they'll go if you'll
Shake them away

Do like the voodoos do, listening to a voodoo melody
They shake their bodies so, to and fro
With every shake, a lucky break

Proving that there's a way to chase your cares away
If you would lose your weary blues
Shake 'em away

If I had been Ruth Etting, I don't know if I would have been flattered or embarrassed by this movie. Normally, when an entertainer is famous enough to have a biopic made of her, the reaction to the actress portraying her is supposed to be, "She was fine, but of course she's no ______ (fill in the blank). But in this case, Doris Day totally outclasses Ruth Etting in every possible way.

They are, aren't they, simply amazing ... emerged from the Great Depression to face a war that covered the planet, and came out of that chin up and smiling so their children could have all the best they did not enjoy, and the happy 50s were the result of that with entertainment such as this.
Our generations now need to do the same as they did and find what is good and happy in the world and make the most of that.

  80. N.... ....

maaaan, okay, I have to say, even though I find Ann Miller's version quite lovely, this version performed by Doris is just- pardon my french - a fucking masterpiece, oh mY GOD!
There's so much energy, her singing is out of this world, the choreography is sooooo good, so fun and sexy, man, it can't get any better than this. Doris was an outstanding entertainer, a powerhouse. GET👏 IT👏 MISS👏 DORIS

  81. I.... O....

    She's amazing!

  82. j.... ....

    Loved her singing and movies

  83. D.... H....

    Fabulous!

  84. t.... ....

And to think: Oscar Levant knew her before she was a virgin!

  85. P.... H....

Amazing!!! This woman could dance, sing.
, and act!! And she is beautiful!!! Hollywood ......we need stars!!! Not the girl-guy around the corner!!! Got plenty of them already.... & they are not worth a penny!!

  86. g.... ....

Doris certainly new how to walk

  87. T.... S....

OMG, what will do when she leaves us? She immortalized this song and so many others. She sang truly from her soul. She knew the gig. She is the epitome of fame gone sour because of the AH men who took advantage of her. But she made the right decision in GETTING OUT and OFF the wheel. An incredible human who punched her talents out to the utmost end....not an intrinsic beauty/ movie star...but a real performer.

  88. R.... M....

Beautiful dress looks like Elsa or Joan Blondell's

  89. a.... ....

Sorry she just stepped away from the public eye so completely. So may stories she could tell from what happened in her experiences. I can understand. I did the same thing for a number of years. Sometimes I wonder if the other way was best; to late now.

  90. D.... S....

Based on the true story of the lady who owned the home..yrs ago....
the "Omelette Parlor" in Colo Spgs!

  91. l.... m....

Viendo una sección de cine clásico me encontré con esta película y me encantó desde ese momento ella. Wowww canta muy hermoso, tranquiliza mi alma. 💞💓

  92. S.... ....

She is a real treasure! Growing up in the '60's and '70's I labeled her as uncool. What a dummy I was, the more I find out about her the more I like her.I have come to realize that the cool vs. uncool label made some of my generation the worst snobs ever and PC takes that snobbery even further.I love you D.Day!

  93. g.... ....

such a shame that this film had nothing to do with the real Ruth Etting, who had affairs while being married to Snyder affais with Flo Zigfield, Bing Crosby, Humphrey Bogart to name a few, Doris was so sweet in this you would never know, it was in parts like By the Light of the Silvery Moon. I am glad they mostly tell the truth now in films, it was why Ava Gardner and Jane Russell refused the film, who would have been far more suited.

  94. E.... G....

Where was Doris's Oscar nomination for best actress in 1955? True, she would have had to face off against the winner Anna Magnani for ROSE TATTOO as well as the phenomenal Susan Hayward in I'LL CRY TOMORROW, as well as Katharine Hepburn in SUMMERTIME, Jennifer Jones in LOVE IS A MANY SPLENDORED THING, but not for GOOD MORNING, MISS DOVE and Eleanor Parker in INTERRUPTED MELODY. Academy should have nominated 6 actresses in 1955.

  95. d.... t....

OBRIGADO POR ESSE PRESENTE, MAIS UMA PARA MINHA COLEÇÃO DE MUSICA E GRANDES ASTROS DO CINEMA AMERICANO.

  96. g.... ....

if you want to see this number performed at its best watch Ann Miller from Easter Parade, real pro, i love Doris but she was miscast in this film, she kept going back to Doris Day mode, they wanted Ava Gardner or Jane Russell, but they were not interested, and then Cagney suggested Doris.

  97. B.... ....

    WOW WOW AND DOUBLE WOW

  98. F.... F....

    Canción y vídeo simplemente maravillosos..¡¡¡¡

  99. R.... L....

    Wow! Doris Day brilliant artist😘

  100. m.... ....

There's no polite way to say this: Doris Day was a serious piece of ass.
