Doris Day - People Will Say We're In Love Lyrics

Don't throw bouquets at me
Don't please my folks too much
Don't laugh at my jokes too much
People will say we're in love

Don't sigh and gaze at me
Your sighs are so like mine
And your eyes mustn't glow like mine
People will say we're in love

Don't start collecting things
Give me my rose and my glove

Well, sweetheart, they're suspecting things
People will say we're in love

  17. S.... N....

    Lovely singer, lovely couple

  18. C.... B....

I ABOSULTLY LOVE THIS WOMAN SINCE I WAS A LITTLE GIRL!!!

  19. A.... J....

I never get tired to see this video, they look SO in love ! They really love each other.......

    A.... J....

They REALLY love each other.....almost always love is more enduring if there's no sex ! Remember than the last time Rock Hudson appear in public (and he shows how hill he was to the world) was in Carmel with Doris .......he fly from L.A. almost dying to make her show and say good bye to her.............he died 2 month later........just friends? Much more than that !!

    A.... J....

In spite of his being gay, she really stuck up for him when he "came out" and when that awful lover of his saw to open his mouth about Rock's and his love affair, shame shame.  Let us go ahead and like the romance Doris and Rock portrayed -- together (he was a good actor because he had us all fooled!)

    A.... J....

His lover died years ago, still young. And I'm SURE than both fall in love when they make "Pillow talk " just look the light in there eyes, they weren't acting in their loves scenes !

    A.... J....

Antoni, I also think Miss Day and Mr. Hudson might have been in love with each other but because he was gay and she was married, they could not get together. Even if they were not in love, I know they loved each other very much as friends.

    A.... J....

@Antoni Jaume Pujol i Rodríguez oh, Really? Never had know about those his words! When and where did he say that? I adore him and Doris!

  20. V.... V....

    Surely a marvolous woman

  21. M.... C....

  22. A.... C....

Oh, I so love this, I have been a fan of Doris since I was young, many years ago. Thank you so much for sharing

  24. D.... ....

I read Tom Santopietro's - Considering Doris Day. He really reviews her whole career. Very interesting book. He puts forth a theory that Doris made everything appear very easy and natural and therefore she didn't really get the credit she so richly deserves .. because it wasn't easy ! I became a Doris fan at 10 when I started listening to my Mom's Doris Day records and I've been a fan ever since !!

  25. S.... R....

I looked up the specific quote and it's very cool, when asked she responded with, "I dig Doris Day!" LOL I think it's great that these other famous singers recognized her ability. I've heard it said that her phrasing was considered amazing but she didn't get the credit. I feel in love with Doris when I was a young girl through a record of my parents. I always felt that I was born in the wrong era musically speaking and later I discovered Sarah and Ella but Doris was my first, my favorite!

  26. D.... ....

Wow .. that's really a nice compliment - Sarah Vaughan is one of the best. I know Sinatra had good things to say about Doris ' singing too. He didn't really compliment other singers too often. Rosemary Clooney said her phrasing was perfect. And Will Friedwald - jazz critic said - "Surely no other great American artist and cultural icon was so willing to forgo cleverness for the sake of truth." And yet - she's still a bit underrated and often over looked ! Don't know why !!

  27. S.... R....

I have heard that Sarah Vaughan was once asked what artists she admired as singers and her answer was Doris Day! I love both of them!

  28. M.... M....

Normally I would agree with what you say; however, I saw Rock Hudson being interviewed towards the end of his life. He said that if he'd met Doris when he was young he wouldn't have been gay.

  29. n.... ....

it's called "acting" dear...The person in my default photo was as gay as can be...but his dance partners were ..naturally, women..

  30. D.... ....

I have to agree with you ! She's one of the best ballad singers of all time !

  31. j.... c....

Doris Day ---One of the best female singers ever.

  32. D.... ....

That's the best kind of day to have !!

  33. c.... r....

Awe love this song . Hold me in your arms is another., from young at heart ❤. Having a D.D . Day loving it

  34. A.... ....

Thanks it went great. I got an A

  35. D.... ....

That makes sense ... thank you so much !!

  36. m.... ....

this might be too late but the song is from the Rodgers & Hammerstein musical Oklahoma! sung by Shirley Jones and Gordon MacRae in the 1955 film version

  37. D.... ....

I have no idea who sang the original so I can't help you out - sorry.

  38. A.... ....

While this is a wonderful version does anyone know where I can find the original, I'm trying to find it for a project on Queen Elizabeth II, it was her favourite song in the 1940's.

    A.... ....

Queen Elizabeth II also liked "Miss Otis Regrets"  she found it very amusing!  The queen has a sense of humor few people know about!

  39. D.... ....

@MsMaynes Well ... I think he was. But they had a great friendship, respect for each other and I'm sure loved each other as friends. They've said it was one of those things where you just click with someone and get along fantastically. And ... they're acting in the movies !!

  40. D.... ....

@deanoi5 I'm happy you enjoyed ! She recorded around 900 songs... a lot of great music to enjoy. I think she's one of the best ballad singers ever. Hope you enjoy more of her great music !! Thanks !

  41. D.... ....

  44. D.... W....

  47. D.... ....

@ednuk From what Doris has said and written in her book - they had a true love, admiration and respect for each other. They were good friends and truely enjoyed working with each other - as it certainly shows in their movies. You said it ... she is talented and then some !! Happy you enojoyed !

    D.... ....

    You say it correctly!

  48. D.... ....

@artaud8642 I'm going to add the notes !! Thanks !

  49. D.... ....

@artaud8642 She definitely nailed it ! I'll have to update the notes on this one. Been trying to do that. It was recorded on 2-25-60. A great album - she really nails these songs from it too - They Say Its Wonderful, I've Grown Accustomed to His Face, Ohio, I Love Paris and I Got The Sun In The Morning. Really great songs from Doris. Happy you enjoyed !!

  50. a.... ....

@artaud8642 Answered my own question! It's the great Axel Stordahl who arranged for Sinatra from his Dorsey days to the mid-50's.

  51. a.... ....

Wow, she really nails it here. When was this recorded? And who did the arrangement? It sounds like Nelson Riddle to me- could it be?

  52. D.... ....

@ilovemartinmilner I do too .. guess you could tell that ! lol Thank you .. so happy you enjoyed !

  53. D.... ....

@ilovemartinmilner I do too .. guess you could tell that ! lo Thank you .. so happy you enjoyed !

  57. D.... ....

@helenkrump You said it ! She is very underrated. It's been written that could be the case because she made it all seem so effortless... which it wasn't ! Thank goodness she finally received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award... long overdue.
