I love Doris Day and this is my favorite song that she sang. What is with all the embellishments-flowers floating everywhere? It’s embarrassing-stop stomping on a national treasure -just let her be -she speaks for herself

Great Doris Day vocal on this jazz tune. This is a swinging rendition helped by the Andre Previn trio. This is terrific music.

This is one of the earliest full album stereo experiments and was a total success. True commercially developed stereo was maybe 3-4 years old and there was a lot of stereo demo vinyl thrown out there. 90% of it wasn't "listenable" more than one time. In my experience, this was one of, if not, the first thing done that was absolutely primo.

Doris is great as always; who wrote this number? Anyone?

The best. DD and Previn really swing. A favourite. S'funny, I bought a 'Jazz' LP by Previn on piano and thought 'here we go- classicists trying to play jazz. Cold and unexciting'. But the piano here is really ace, with a great solo. And of course he gave great backing to that other famous pianist E.Morecambe.....

Andre Previn is playing some of the "Monk" licks on his solo......

Credit to the band though.

For those who may not know, the entire 'Duet' album is great.  Makes me wish she had done more true jazz-oriented music, as she obviously had such a feel for it.  Her vocal control should be studied by all aspiring singers.

I mainly know Doris Day's "Que sera sera"... I couldn't imagine she could sing in a jazz trio with piano, double-bass and drums!!! Really cool. Thanks very much ;-)

@rioamigo I love everything you said !! Its all so true ...so why doesn't she get the recognition she so richly deserves ?? I really don't understand the way she is and has in the past been overlooked. I'm with you .. I don't think anyone can sing a ballad better than Doris.. and yet she can sing upbeat songs.. she can sing jazz as she proves with the Duet album. I guess the Grammy Lifetime Achievement award if some recognition... but she deserves so much more !

This is another Doris Day song I like although I'm not much of a fan. Thanks for posting so many of her music videos. As a fan of my own favourite artists, I would at best collect as many as possible only the CDs. You are a real deal.

I bought "Duet" at a used record store over the weekend for just under a sawbuck and man was it an unexpectedly jazzy outing. "Close Your Eyes" was the first track on the A-side and it blew me away--I had no idea Doris Day could be so sultry, swinging and cool. Needless to say I dig it...

The only time I ever got a reaction to my music from my late father was when he listened to Doris Day on my headphones. He would close his eyes. Her voice is heavenly. My wish is that she would have recorded more duet albums with Andre Previn. To me nothing beats piano, bass, and drums with that incredible Doris Day voice. No female vocalist has a better voice to my ears. Thanks for the photos and motion graphics. If you haven't shared more from this CD I can. "Control Yourself" is one more.

Well - she's a good example of how to overcome adversity. She's had plenty to overcome. Her son, Terry, said she was great at moving on - could leave the bad behind her and move right on up the road. I guess we should all learn a lesson from that. thank for your great comments. This is one of my favorite songs too !!

I think she could do it all. This is one of my favorite albums. She was sort of jazzy when she first started singing. And she got back to it with the Duet album.
