disagree.... dylan, some beatles songs, some hendrix, neil young and a couple of others could and did delve into lyrical conceptual layered lyrics like this..... I will say though morrison is misunderstood & underrated b/c far too many focus either on his destruction and/or his glamour sex symbol side. in songs like this he couldnt really penetrate texture wise the multidimensional sides to the culture & mind. he may have been the best rock lyricist re the wide scape sweeping narrative of the over all western culture. songs like wasp, wtmo, the end, riders are very powerful takes on the western continuum. the now, the past & future on the river west.

Jerry Scheff was hired for the LA Woman session. Some of Jerry's first studio work was with The Association on Along Comes Mary. He fit well with the band and was hired to be a full time member. They were set to start the LA Woman Tour and......., Jim died. Jerry is still with us and is now 78. He had previously worked with Elvis and most recently Elvis Costello. Jerry had toured Ray Manzarek before Ray passed away.

this song just draws you in, even if you try to pull away. like a black star. so deeply sad. its as if the band was subconsciously channeling in to jim's own industry exit or worse the big check out. all cards laid out on a well worn & lived table. the honesty is point blank brutal, yet beautifully honest.
