Doobie Brothers, The - Need A Little Taste Of Love Lyrics

Hey mister, walkin' with the blues
Hey sister, payin' heavy dues
Havin' troubles, and it ain't so hard to find
When you're ridin' double, and you're runnin' out of time
No need to feel, that you lack the spirit
Within the body, but it's in the soul
If you wanna be loved, then let somebody hear it
Might as well face the facts, no need to be holdin' back
Need a little taste of love

Hey mister, tell me how long has it been
Hey sister, so how could you pretend
Why keep the sorrow, where it don't belong
Well come tomorrow, oh help me sing the song

No need to feel, that you lack the spirit
Within the body, but it's in the soul
If you wanna be loved, then let somebody hear it
Might as well face the facts, no need to be holdin' back
Need a little taste of love

My favorite band of all time.

The perfect band for marrying pop and semi-hard rock. I've seen them 5 times in 45 years and they NEVER disappoint in any capacity.

This song is so Doobie Brothers. They always have that happy rockin' thing going on. They're a big staple on my internet radio station: YourMMStation.com advocating the passage of MMJ laws around the globe and we do it with music and comedy.

Love the Doobies and this is a great cover of the Isley brothers classic.Check out Ernie Isleys solo on the original 1974 version, pretty killer guitar. Solo starts about 1: 57. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yj3pF3ocfs0

+ Margaret Nelson Here's to HOPING you learn English, and speak in a coherent manner.

    M.... N....

What's wrong with you??? Go to school and learn the English language! Good grief!!!

  28. M.... C....

The Doctor is their only good hit

    M.... C....

you want a cookie? Nobody is impressed...and yet I still contend that The Doctor is their only good hit.

    M.... C....

take that chip off your shoulder you fool.

    M.... C....

+Mr. Chip, What is your basis for that? That's like saying that Leonardo Da Vinci's only hit was the Mona Lisa. Or Stradavarius only made one big hit for a violin.

    M.... C....

Then you ABSOLUTELY do NOT know the Doobie Brothers history and the many great songs they put out! Good grief!!!

    M.... C....

Yeah if thats the only one you"ve ever heard.....

  29. C.... C....

Underrated song & my fav from the Cycles album.

  30. J.... R....

the Doobies are my high...Music always did it for me

  31. M.... H....

This was kind of a comeback for the Doobies....they had been gone for awhile....and now they were back with Tom Johnston....

  32. x.... ....

I was at this show many years ago at the now defunct Poplar Creek outside of Chicago. They said they would be taping the performance for a music video and did the song twice. The audience was very loud and thats why you see Ton Johnson clap for the crowd at the end.

    x.... ....

    Which year was this?

  33. R.... B....

I disagree, but I see where you come from!!

  34. R.... B....

    Hey SISTA!!

  35. B.... ....

"She Was Born with a little Soul" is "Sweet Maxine" - search for it, it's there!

  36. p.... ....

I've been a Doobies fan for a LONG time and finally saw them last year...one of the best concerts that I've seen, even sitting in the rain. :)

  37. I.... ....

You're so right! Both the Doobie Brothers and Grand Funk Railroad should have been inducted into the RnRHOF at the first induction ceremony. Shame on them! Go see the Doobies while they're still performing and enjoy their real music.

  38. P.... ....

I have just listened to three songs by The Doobie Brothers (Long Train Running, South Of The Border and Need A Little Taste Of Love) and I've really become a fan. Its time to buy all of their albums and have a night in

  39. A.... D....

    This is JESUS JUICE!

  40. J.... ....

Amazing band! They have been my favorite since I first heard them in 1972.

    J.... ....

    Jenna
    me too...only in '73

    J.... ....

    same here Jenna

    J.... ....

    Me three!! 71

  41. r.... ....

@jeanette4ful Yep, it sure is an Isley Brothers song. They sure could make outstanding music, and the Doobies paid awesome tribute to them with this cover.

  42. b.... ....

I just wish that guitar solo was longer.

  43. S.... O....

Bland? Yeah, about as bland as Lena Kansbod and Kathy Ireland! This Isley Brothers' original is one of the best R&B numbers of all time. The Doobie Brothers should have been placed in the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame the day it opened, and the Isleys success speaks for itself.

  44. r.... ....

I did a little research on this song. I cant believe it did not make the top 40. Another song from this album did. "The Doctor" charted at #9 in '89. The album was "Cycles". I personally think this is a better track.

    r.... ....

Yeah, it was a real shame nobody wanted to give this lineup much of a chance. The Doobie Brothers were a perfect example of a replacement member going on to define the band forever more. Just like Phil Collins with Genesis and David Gilmour with Pink Floyd, people seemed to get so used to Michael McDonald that they forgot about great songs like "Black Water" and "China Grove" which didn't feature him at all. If's as if people forgot there was a Doobie Brothers before him.

Although I was definitely on Team McDonald back then, I really felt like they were really not into what they were doing anymore. If Michael had released "One Step Closer" under his own name and not the Doobies, I doubt anybody would have been the wiser.

    r.... ....

I remember hearing The Doctor on the radio in 1989. I do like this song too, perhaps better. Most of the Cycles album is actually pretty good, IMO.

  45. b.... s....

HE IS THE REASON THIS BAND SURVIVES TODAY AND THAT QUOTE CAME FROM PAT SIMMONS IN A INTERVUE

  46. O.... ....

GREAT band then, GREAT band now... This is the Doobie Brothers - can't replace Tom Johnston...

  47. J.... .....

Tommy Johnston, the absolute best & most proflicic of all time!!!
