Doobie Brothers, The - Here To Love You Lyrics

I've heard it said that the weight of the world's problems
Is enough to make the ball fall right through space
That it ain't even worth it to live
With all that's goin' wrong
Well, let me just go down as saying
That I'm glad to be here
Here with all the same pain and laughs everybody knows

Some men think they're born to be king
Maybe that's true
But I think passing love around
Is all we were born to do

Let them build their kingdoms
Let them make the laws for this world to heed
'Cause you and I make life worth living
Right here in each other's arms

I'm here to love you, baby
No more loneliness
No more emptiness
I'm here to love you

Let them build their kingdoms
Let them make the laws for this world to heed
'Cause you and I make life worth living
Right here in each other's arms

I'm here to love you, baby
No more loneliness
No more emptiness
I'm here to love you...

I'm here to love you

Just let me go on loving you
Don't stop me now while I'm feeling this way...

  1. T.... G....

Michael Jackson sang background vocals on this song.

    T.... G....

That's a false rumor according to Patrick Simmons. https://ultimateclassicrock.com/doobie-brothers-michael-jackson-debunked/

Glorious memory, glorious feelings from this expat on Dubai

Try to pick just one single off this album (Minute By Minute)! Well, now. I thought it was "Minute By Minute" until I heard the rest of the tracks. A fantastic soundtrack to some of my most adventurous and happy years.

  4. B.... B....

I think was one of the best songs on this album.

  5. P.... S....

    Fabulous...

  7. K.... P....

"But I think passing love around
Is all we were born to do".

  8. B.... S....

Its heard that the wight of a belch from tony robbins, will be enough to propel you muthfukas out into space.

  9. P.... R....

yup.. killer! (but wouldn't you want to be listening to Lady Gag?)

  10. D.... C....

Love how Michael tickles the ivory at the end.

  11. B.... H....

I don't thumbs up any singles -you have the whole album but in singles. Waste of my time.

  12. C.... K....

I saw this band once. I was right after the 'Real Love' release Aug 1980. This was their opening number. Good show.

    C.... K....

V jealous I was only 11 and in Scotland 😄

  13. R.... K....

McDonald really dominated the song writing and direction of the band by this point.

    R.... K....

well he had to that's why he was brought in one time he was sick for a couple of years that's what they wanted him to do collaborate together and basically Little John Patt Tirian and Keith sort of gave him the keys to the kingdom and he did the best he could give him what he got..they miss time of course is it that time they put out so many albums and made such great music together and won so many awards but keeping the spirit of the doobies rolling (insert pun) they did the best they could with what they had of the time..

  14. a.... d....

Just saw Michael Macdonald in concert at Toronto's Sony centre for the performing Arts. Great acoustics. This song Here to Love you was definitely one of the highlights and best songs he performed. He hit the vocals on this one which is remarkable after all these years.

  15. B.... ....

    Michael McDonald's voice...A true blessing.......

    B.... ....

His range is so mysterious, low and high

    B.... ....

Michael McDonald's vocal range is just incredible!! What a voice!! LEGEND## "Here to Love You" is my favorite Doobies song and vocally, probably Michael's best imo!!

  16. .... ....

    マクドナルドにしても傑作なんだけど、タイラン・ポーター、キース・ヌードセン、ジェフ・バクスターの驚異的対応力があってこそのドゥービーの傑作だと思う。

    LovE thiS SonG..!!

as my life progressed, i'm 60 now, these songs and their lyrics never got old & still hold more true even in today's world. i can't give in to the 2000's. my inner life is still in the 70's no matter what. never was there ever a better time or any more magical music as from the 70's period which paved the way for other artists.

    D.... S....

Agreed, man. I'm 60 and feel incredibly blessed to have grown up in the 1970s. No other decade had such a wide variety of musical styles and talented artists. It was truly magical. Thank God for YouTube!

  19. E.... T....

    Love this stuff......quality act.

  20. C.... L....

On this song and on "What a fool believes" the sound-engeneer just didn`t manage to capture the really high tones of Michael`s singing. It suddenly sounds like a shrill trumpet in the really high tones. What do you think? Is there a difference on vynil maybe? Greets

    C.... L....

    Captain LeChimp
You might be right but I can't hear it. But then, you probably have better speakers and ears than I do! :)

    C.... L....

    Captain LeChimp
Oh, and I'm from the US of A. Nice talking to you. Thanks for listening to my upload!

    C.... L....

Hmm no, just - listen to "Believe in it" and "That`s why" ... both with wonderful high voice passages. Maybe He took singin-lessons inbetween and expanded 2 notes, dunno :D

    C.... L....

Ah lucky you, getting to see Michael McD live :-)

    C.... L....

    Captain LeChimp
Ah, yes, I did have the great privilege, I'll never forget it! McD, Fagen, and Scaggs all together in one place. And the lovely Carolyn Leonhart.
Btw, if you haven't already read it, here's a great article on Michael McDonald's amazing voice that analyzes it in more detail than I've encountered anywhere else: https://theconcourse.deadspin.com/how-michael-mcdonald-the-affable-captain-of-yacht-rock-1595395011

  22. c.... ....

What tone deaf, soulless shitbird gives this a thumbs down?

  23. B.... S....

It doesn't matter if it's the early Tom Johnston, rocking style or the later, Michael McDonald, jazzy R& B sound of the Doobies. Good music is good music. I love both stages of the Doobies.

    B.... S....

You know, I think "Here To Love You" is a perfect mix of both styles.

    B.... S....

Both incarnations of Doobie are excellent.

    B.... S....

    @Kieran Jordan Here Here!!

  24. B.... B....

Why didn't they make this in a single? I think it's one of the best on this album.

    B.... B....

    Good question, Bob!

  25. P.... A....

Beautiful that voice smooth as fxxk 😎🤳👌✌️👍

  26. v.... ....

This was the most underrated and under played song on this totally off-the-chain album. It was my favorite.

    v.... ....

    Agree, BIG time !!!

    v.... ....

    Same here!

  27. A.... A....

    I love it 2 much

  28. B.... ....

Great song & album....Thanks....Memories....A greeting from Trento, Italy

  29. S.... ....

So refreshing to hear actual talent.

    S.... ....

And you can actually understand their lyrics.

  30. R.... S....

Approximately 3 years ago you couldn't find this song on you tube. Finally: discovered. This is a great R and B song with a bit of Tiran Porter and Keith Knudsen funk, simple effective Motown guitar lick. This has always been an underrated Doobies song.

  31. F.... S....

I'm here to love you, baby. Syncopated brilliance.

  32. I.... F....

    The best

  33. B.... B....

When I got this Album and played THIS track I got goose bumps the size of Montana and listening to it right now not a Damn thing has changed, I'll be a Doobie until my last breath!

    B.... B....

    🎼😁😉😎👊👍✋!!!!!!!

    B.... B....

    Same here!

    B.... B....

And this is just a teaser not even the best song on the record!!!

  34. j.... ....

It's hard to believe that Michael McDonald sat down with a buddy of his and after listening to this album, they both concluded that it sucked!! - I don't get it!

    j.... ....

jpwjr1199 artist are always hard on themselves

    j.... ....

Smokin the doobie will do that to you... lol

    j.... ....

Daniel Rowland  I suppose, but this album is just tremendous.

    j.... ....

well in retrospect I think🤔 it was because of the fact Tommy wasn't there ☹️and it was his band originally originally that him and Pat formed..because when Mike join the band🎶🎹🎤 we all know what kind of shifting gears from the straightforward rock and roll machine that it was. but that being said taking it to the streets is a fantastic album 👍and I think that after they listened to it they wanted to get that full Vibe again..and there's just those couple of things that Tom put into the band that were missing.. his vision of certain things for a good like lead guitar in a song..at least to me that's what it seems like why they thought it kind of sucked in a way because Tom wasn't there for those couple of years...now that's just my opinion only but that's what I just sort of think✊

  35. T.... P....

Thank you Michael McDonald for TAKING OVER!!

  36. .... ....

    トム・ジョンストンがいないドゥービーが、こんなイカす曲を発表するなんて・・・奇跡だ。^^

    .... ....

    Really?

    .... ....

    渡辺弘人 hi

  37. S.... R....

tight...just tight. Don't make em like this any more.

    S.... R....

    Agreed!

    S.... R....

@Holly Herring was your mum a music teacher

    S.... R....

@rogart101 No, but my cousin is at the present time!

    S.... R....

    @Holly Herring ah right
I was taught by an Australian woman called Mrs herring in the north of Scotland years ago and could've sworn her daughter was holly. 😄

  38. J.... ....

the start of this song is just superb - I could play this all day long . just nothing like it ...thank goodness for MM and the Doobie Brothers

  39. E.... S....

    Great classic....

    E.... S....

    Is it a great classic?

  40. a.... ....

Now thats some common sense lyrics

  41. S.... ....

Is Michael in it too? He is rumoured to be

    S.... ....

Yes I can really hear him in this lol.

    S.... ....

Yes he's at the end during the backup vocals.

  42. t.... ....

best band ever and still touring today,,,,awesome..doobies rock & rule......

  43. E.... S....

    Great classic.....

  44. D.... P....

this guy is the worst singer ever

    D.... P....

I'm sure you meant best. Probably an auto correct error.

    D.... P....

You've been smokin the Doobie way to much.

    D.... P....

    Are you fxxkin real mate

    D.... P....

Must really suck to be tone deaf pal !!....

    D.... P....

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA

  45. R.... M....

my mom use to love this band when I was little it brings good memories... very time I think of a song I think of my mom. 😘😘😘😘

  46. W.... P....

This was just a continuation of the band, with Michel McDonald. It's essentially a West Coast sound, with or without the emphasis on the guitar playing. If you follow the LP's through the 70s', you see the evolution of the group.

    W.... P....

Walter Pewen no Walt..There is emphasis but just not ROCK GUITAR
Ole Skunk played some real jazzy runs and great pieces but it is more Yact Rock sound I do agree along with One Step Closer too

  47. E.... S....

    Great classic....

  48. E.... S....

    Great classic.....

    E.... S....

Are you trying saying that this is What? A Great classic lol

  51. C.... S....

  52. j.... h....

heard it said that the weight of the worlds problems is enough to make the all fall right through space , this song alone could help solve the problem could it not

  53. P.... N....
