One of the most beautiful songs from a great album full of pathos and sadness for me personally. Forget the Michael vs. Tom bullshit. "Once a Doobie, always a Doobie.", as one poster said. Takes me back in an instant to USF and me lost in The City.

This song (and this album) always remind me of a great period in San Francisco, and coastal California, the mid-late 70's That's the "pyramid" building in S.F. that had just been built. A relaxed, kick back period of funk and freedom. No hedge fund tech crazies, AIDS, Reagan, any of it. Just relax and yes, smoke a doobie...

9 people dislike this only like the Doobie Brothers from 1971 to 1975 with Tom Johnston. Only way to explain the hate. The 1976 to 1980 Doobie Brothers era was a lot more than just Michael McDonald. Patrick Simmons, Tiran Porter and Others from the 1971 to 1975 era were still with the Band.

i discovered this on an old vinyl and i literally cannot listen to it in any other format. it feels so odd and peculiar listening via streaming. i could listen to ANY other song as an mp3 or on a compact disc etcetera, but not this one. im glad this is so, though, because it feels all the more special. also one of my first vinyl experiences. lovely.

Cause At the time It was'nt one of their hit song's , they would play it once in awhile , but mainly they played their top hit's at the time.

Love this song! When I was selling Audis this was the main song I had burned to CD to demo how awesome the sound system is, the blending of the instruments and vocals is just superb and a good sound system will evidence this.

I am in total agreement. They write music like this anymore. Flawless on stage. They were my first concert at 15 years old. MSA, (Market Square Arena), Indianapolis, Indiana. Eddie Money was the opening act. That was a great night. Saw the concert with my big brother. A cherished memory.

These Doobie fellows helped matters for the 70s. I guess that is one answer... Bill Haley must have flipped to see how far rock had gone after he served as a 50s pioneer!

Ok, I will grant this song the best one from the MM era of the Doobie Brothers. I would listen to this song as a teen in So. Cal. Even better than the one that won the Grammy award. Otherwise, Tom Johnston is the soul of the Doobie Brothers and always will be
