Donovan Woods - Our Friend Bobby Lyrics
Cops found him on a Sunday
So we all met up Monday night
I guess we always kind of figured this might happen some day
It's just a drag that we were right
Everybody telling that he's in heaven
But judging by the kind of stuff he was all mixed up in
Even I have my doubts
Drink one for our friend Bobby
Ran his car right off the road
On accident, on purpose, darling
Even now we don't know
Drink one for our friend Bobby
Open them gates and let him in
On accident, on purpose, darling
My dad called him the neighbor kid
Next best thing to next of kin
I probably would've got beat up like a thousand more times than I did
If I didn't grow up next to him
And all my friends can just keep on talking
Going on and on about a bunch of lies
But when's the last time any of them saw him or even called him
He wasn't that bad a guy
Drink one for my friend Bobby
Ran his car right off the road
On accident, on purpose, darling
Even now we don't know
Drink one for our friend Bobby
Open them gates and let him in
On accident, on purpose, darling
Those are pretty much the same to him
Those are pretty much the same to him
Those are pretty much the same to him

Donovan Woods Our Friend Bobby Comments
Just saw Donovan Woods last night in Louisville, KY opening for Ruston Kelly. Simply phenomenal performances from both acts. Donovan's transitions between songs were so funny and often self-deprecating: he seems like a genuinely good person. I wish him the best of luck with his beautiful music.
Music is just like a lifeline for me. It keeps me connected to my life. And it makes me feel alive. Without it life would have less meaning for me.
Like I am floating to nowhere. Breathing in music is energy to my lungs and brains. Feeling the emotion inside where life is all about.
Last week in my continuously search for new music and emotion I found Donovon Woods. And I thought this is how music should sound and tell it's story.
This Canadian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist understands how to tell a story and where life is all about. And makes music personal and emotional.
Last week his new album 'Both Ways' came out. His song 'Our Friend Bobby' is the one I love most.
Just take a listen...
Love it so much, Bobby
