I never got why this one wasn't a big hit like the other 3 from this album? This album made her the biggest musician of 1979. It was unfortunate that she signed with David Geffen the next year, but I think Casablanca went bankrupt which was odd since they had Donna and Kiss on their label, both huge acts?

Donna like a shooting star, gone too quick. True talent, True person. Really defined an era in music..The times, the cars, The clothes. I don't think we'll ever see a time like that again. R.I.P Donna...

Anyone else notice how she incorporated horns/saxophone on a few of her songs?

+Daniel Burns Yes on 10/18/80, the same week The Wanderer was at #11. The song was released after she had left Casablanca Records - and being that The Wanderer was her new release with her new label Geffen - that became the focus of her air play. That split would ultimately hurt both singles, as both could have done better had they not been competing for air play at the same time.

The Wanderer was a different style in rhythm and sound from her previous songs, because of that change you mentioned...but this song is really cool...never heard it till now.

I love this woman's voice, she was spectacular.....

This whole album is pop music at it's best... it infused funk,soul,dance,country.. all in one, a masterpiece ! Donna and Harold Faltermeyer did some just amazing work on this album. This was a departure at time, and very forward, one the best albums ever made IMO.

I knw what time...I remember as a kid me and my child hood friends would dance to this songs at one of our parents parties..I was 7 years old when this song came out. I like it still 32 years later(see how I am)....lol

@diegosalvati yeah, ure totally right. its a great album that should be on all the "best pop albums ever" lists that the music magazines have, but it never is! its a shame. this is like... eh, the "White album" or "Exile on mainstrem" of disco hahahahahaha All those great songs here, like "our love", "lucky", "dim all the lights", "journey to the centre of the heart" just to mention a FEW!!!!

I was about 7 or 8 years old when this song came out. I loved it then me and my friends use to love dancing to it. I still LOVE this song.. IT is a classic
