Donna Fargo - You Can't Be A Beacon (If Your Light Don't Shine) Lyrics

You can't be a beacon
If your light don't shine
You can't be a beacon
If your light don't shine
There's a little light
In all of us by God's design
But you can't be a beacon
If your light don't shine

How can you ask for truth
When you do not truthful live
How can you ask forgiveness
When you don't forgive
I don't mean to bring you down
Or speak to you unkind
But you can't be a beacon
If your light don't shine

You can't be a beacon
If your light don't shine
You can't be a beacon
If your light don't shine
There's a little light
In all of us by God's design
But you can't be a beacon
If your light don't shine

How can you ask a child
To be honest and true
When he can only judge what's right
By what he sees in you
How can you offer vision
Yet walk around blind
No, you can't see a beacon
If it's light don't shine

You can't be a beacon
If your light don't shine
You can't be a beacon
If your light don't shine
There's a little light
In all of us by God's design
But you can't be a beacon
If your light don't shine

May God's love surround you
May you find a brighter day
May He grant you the peace
You seek in every way
God's light burns
In each life, yours and mine
And you can be a beacon
If you just let it shine

You can be a beacon
If you let it shine
You can be a beacon
If you let it shine
There's a little light in
All of us by God's design
You can be a beacon
If you let it shine

You can be a beacon
If you let it shine
You can be a beacon
If you let it shine
There's a little light in
All of us by God's design
You can be a beacon
If you let it shine

You can be a beacon
If you let it shine
You can be a beacon
If you let it shine
There's a little light in
All of us by God's design
You can be a beacon
If you let it shine

I just heard this on a Country Classics radio station from Galax, VA , I live in Greensboro, NC, the DJ after this song played mentioned Donna is from Mount Airy, NC 50 miles from me, essentially Mayberry the hometown of Andy Griffith. I hadn't heard this since the 70's what a treat, also love Donna's rendition of Paul Anka Song "Do I love you".

  15. R.... B....

When I was growing up in the 1970s I loved the following female singers: Olivia Newton John, Karen Carpenter, Emmy Lou Harris, Dolly Parton, and, Donna Fargo. Those are the ranks in which I put Donna Fargo. I know she had serious medical problems by the late Seventies which prevented her continuing performing and song writing, but, she still had an impact on me. I love this song!!!!

  16. N.... m....

    She sounds like Loretta Lynn!

  17. K.... H....

Seen this beautiful lady back in 1976 with The Statler Brothers in Jackson, Mississippi, awesome show!!, true country singers, when country music was still country music.

  18. K.... R....

In the late 70s and early 80s, my family was close with this wonderful woman. When my sister passed away, Donna Fargo wrote my mom a letter. We used to go see her at Knott's Berry Farm all of the time. I have a ton of pictures (somewhere) of me being held up by someone to give her presents while she was on stage or hugging her back stage. She is an amazing woman and talent that MS has tried to keep from us.

  19. m.... ....

You can tell that she has MS in this video. I have MS so I recognize the way she stands and holds her arm.

  20. W.... P....

    AaaaaaaaMen!!

Loved her then, love her now!

  22. T.... M....

We love you Donna! One of the very biggest hits in all of Country Music History! She was the No. 1 Female Vocalist of the 1970's! It's hard t o believe how big she was.....No. 1 by far in Country Music in 1970's!

  23. W.... L....

I have always tried to do what the song says and be a shining beacon.

  24. F.... M....

This is so true, and so many are not letting their light shine to help the hungry, homeless, pollution, hate, and treating others like they don't count.

  25. D.... M....

    teddy bear Donna fango

  26. F.... E....

  27. R.... D....

She is simply wonderful - original, and honest in her ways, prayers and music!
