Don Williams - I Sing For Joy Lyrics
When I was younger, the hunger came calling
And humbly I answered each rising and falling
I will not surrender at this wiser and tender age
I turn the page.
And I sing for Joy
For the smile that it brings, from the heart
Through these guitar strings
It was only noise, till her love put a song
In the soul of this good ole boy
I sing for Joy.
When I was lonely, my angel found me
She sweetly and gently wrapped her arms around me
And the demons that chased me, gave up and faded away
[Chorus:]
And I sing for Joy
For the smile that it brings, from the heart
Through these guitar strings
It was only noise, till her love put a song
In the soul of this good ole boy
I sing for Joy.
[Instrumental]
Who could come nearer, to making life clearer
The time we're together grows dearer and dearer
When I must travel and I have to leave her alone
She's in my song.
[Chorus:]
And I sing for Joy
For the smile that it brings, from the heart
Through these guitar strings
It was only noise, till her love put a song
In the soul of this good ole boy
I sing for Joy.
Of her love put a song
In the soul of this good ole boy
I sing for Joy...

dons wife just recently passed away , may god rest both their souls
Aww so sorry to hear that Joy has passed too, but it's also comforting to know that they are together again and forever rejoicing with Our Saviour Jesus Christ, until we all meet again!
Beautiful song, lovely voice, wonderful singer and amazing heavenly feelings
He may have been a rake and a ramblin ' man. He was just 21 when he married Joy but his was a true love. Oh, to be the recipient of that kind of love.
It is a wonderful thing. I know because I had that kind of love with my husband.
Just the best ever. RIP Can anybody tell me how many songs Don Williams recorded please?
jammerget many songs you you can spend a week trying to play them all.

Joy is his wife's name and she has been sick for many years so you know it has to be hard when he has to leave to go on tours and such. Don is an amazing man and he and his wife Joy were so good to my grandparents before my grandparents both eventually passed away. Don and Joy were their neighbors in Tenn.
rockingchairantiques 😭😭
Thanks to Anjan for posting this. I love this song by Don. It takes on even more meaning when you realize his wife's name is Joy...
