Don Williams - Her Perfect Memory Lyrics

I remember how we struggled
When we first started out
She recalls we had it all
Not what we did without
I think back on those hard times
She remembers only love
Who am I to say that's not
Exactly how it was.

[Chorus:]
That's how she remembers it
She was the lucky one
Just take a look at both of us
And you tell me who won
If she thinks I hung the stars
If that's what she believes
Then who am I to tamper with
Her perfect memory.

You ought to hear her tell the kids
How mom and daddy met
It always amazes me
The things that she forgets
Somehow she gets it turned around
But its still my favorite part
How Mommy looked in Daddy's eyes
And I stole away her heart.

[Chorus:]
That's how she remembers it
She was the lucky one
Just take a look at both of us
And you tell me who won
If she thinks I hung the stars
If that's what she believes
Then who am I to tamper with
Her perfect memory.

If I made all her dreams come true
As far as she can see
Who am I to tamper with
Her perfect memory...

Great song by a great man and a great singer. I've loved Dons music since I was maybe 10 or 11 and at that time growing up in the rural areas of South Africa I could hardly understand the massage in a song but still his voice was so soothing and the instruments would sometimes make me wanna cry. On our national radio they had this program call " ngidlalele" meaning play for me in native language. Here people would request a song weeks earlier via postcard and then wait for their song to be played in weeks to come, sometimes you'd wait for a month for your song to be played. So I would always pray that 1 of the listeners had requested any Dons songs. At times I would miss the program when my mother never had money to buy battery for our radio since there was no electricity and I would be very very depressed. In my area I was the only person loving country music and even as a teenager people around me always felt that I was weird. Over the years Dons music has seen me through very hard times and everything I am today is through Dons music. To me he was always part of me, it was like he knew all about me and my problems. When he died a few months back it was so painful to me and it was the first time in my life having to live my life without him. I would always pray that 1 day I'll visit America get to see him or even his home, but unfortunately that didn't happen. Although we were always oceans apart it always felt to me as if he was always next to me. I pray that God bless him his family and all his music lovers. I thank God for having borrowed us a great human being like him in this world full of pain and sorrow. His music always gave hope that things would be okay and they always surely did. Sorry for such a long story.
