@Trying-Hard Tobeashepherd I agree with you. But how do you interpret the lyrics then? It seems pretty obvious to me that that's the meaning of the verses i quoted.

@Mark Peterson The title alone should tell you where Pete's head is at. 'having you over' means 'having you on' or simply put, 'who is pulling your leg?'. He may be talking about conspiracies, but to me it sounds like he is mocking them. The song may be directed at someone he knows who does swallow shit like flat earth, but Pete doesn't, even reading those lyrics.

@Trying-Hard Tobeashepherd The title could be interpreted both ways, and the lyrics don't suggest that he's mocking conspiracies at all, the opposite I would say with all that "you're sooo rock n roooolllll" verses ecc.

@Mark Peterson I'm trying to give him the benefit of the doubt by saying he is is looking elsewhere, at someone else and asking them 'who's having you over', but if we take your interpretation, then poor ole Pete is lost! Anyone who even entertains the idea of a flat earth for a moment doesn't deserve anyone's respect. The big question for us is, Pete Doherty, troubled genius who needs to self medicate to take the edge off his perception of the world, or Pete Doherty, drugged up fool!? I have heard stories of Carl (the Libertines guitar player, I hope I have his name correct)having the wool pulled over his eyes in jest. He was described as 'a nice fellow, a little shy, perhaps not too bright'., so it is not out of the question that his former band mate would also be nice, but dim. Let's hope it's my interpretation that is the correct one, eh?! ;)
