Just love this song written by Tom Jans. Remember slow dancing to it over and over again. IMO: this is the best version. Dobie Gray puts his heart into.

Learn something new everyday (at 70). I thought the title was Freedom of My Chains and happened upon Loving Arms. Like so many artists of that era, Dobie Gray was taken too early and too much potential lost.

I believe he was one of the most underrated singers ever.  He had such a strong soulful voice.

Dobie's version of this song is the best, but it is just a beautiful song. Any version of it is great. I have 4 versions of it. Elvis, Dixie Chicks, Dobie Gray and Etta James. Etta's is the next best but Dobies is great.

It's such a great song and it is hard to believe it only made it to #61 on the Billboard chart.  Dobie sadly never had a #1 record.  Drift Away went to #5 and that was his biggest success.

My sweet Alysa died in my arms in the car we were in. We were on the run from my parents as they didn’t want us together. I didn’t know it but she had taken enough percs to kill her after she found out my parents had a warrant issued for us. Man we drove and listened to music across Kansas. This song came on when I realized she was gone. It was Feb 1987 and we were both 16. Still can’t handle this song but I come here on our anniversary. Rest easy my lady.
