Divine Comedy, The - The Lost Art Of Conversation Lyrics
Why all the distance in existence
Join the resistance
Come on, let's start by talking tactics
With pepper-pots and matchsticks
Here's how we practice the lost art of conversation
It's gonna take some concentration
But all the best things do
There's a terrific neolithic tribe in the pacific
They've got no cars, no televisions
No money, no ambitions
Just some pigs and some chickens
And the lost art of conversation
The League of Nations, The English Patient, Joan Of Arc
It's gonna take some imagination
Don't try this in public or they'll think you've gone insane
And it won't be long before the men in white coats come
To take you far away
We had a comrade, a brave comrade
He could talk for whole days
But then he tried to be a hero
Tried talking 'bout Jean Miro to commuters wearing earphones
He almost die for conversation
Hallucinations, Good Vibrations, Van Dyke Parks
Greyhound racing, Steeple chasing, The Reformation
Transubstantiation, Bram Stoker's creation
The Land of the Thracians, and right back to the start
It's gonna take some time and patience
But all the best things do
Don't try this in public or they'll think you've gone insane
And it won't be long before the men in white coats come
To take you far away, far away
Well here they come

divine comedy and the best music ever heard are close. I used to think that pink floyd were untouchable then along came the Devine Comedy. so perfect. Any single women that like them please say hello. I am actually very outgoing and a laugh
Hello I am probably answering a year to late but I think that The Divine Comedy and Neil Hannon are unsurpassable...and I am a single woman... reasonably out going
Colin Moulding, anyone? :-)
for sure !! the bridge in "assume the perpendicular" is another true exemple...
Found this three days ago, am now on my 1100th listen. Give or take.
What are you on now?
@paul josephs Cocaine
Love this song, although I always misheard "Frank Lampard" as "Franklyn Parks" who I imagined to be some cutting edge American artist too cool for me to have ever heard of...
So...it wasn't just me ? Phew. Curse you, mondegreens !
Covering both Ireland's great insighters in The Reformation and Transubstantiation in a feld swoop
. Beautiful song and a very smart man! Love it!
Yeah that is a nice dog.
I KNOOOOOW ;D
Love the Dublin fella at the end ''it was nice yeah'' :p after groovin to the tune that totally caught me off guard!
Brackets, brackets everywhere.
not that I don't recognise his superiority though ;)
lol
something about this kind of music that doesn't always agree with me, like this guy's always trying to show you how brilliant and open minded he is :)
trying too hard gets annoying sometimes
Bluzme ...have you heard his interviews ?...nobody's more humble...he just oozes brillance and relevance, even if he'd try not to.show it...
This man is a really sweet natured unassuming man .
I used to have a black lab that used me to lead me into ponds. he loved water my buddy. Now i live in a 7square meter room, couldn't bring him with me. I just bought a nice acustic guitar and im practicing Divine comedy songs, so that's to him. Horray!
Neil Hannon is a genuine genius and his sense of humour makes it all the more appreciable
@4orsaorsa I first discovered them from The Booklovers - fantastic track from the Promenade album.
Don't try this in public or they'll think you've gone insane
A brilliant bouncy romp of a song. Puts a smile on your face any time of day.
Magnifique! Bravo Neil!
This band ist phenomenal! (Never heard of them before) until today - Although they have been around for quite a while (20yrs.) as I read. Love them (although I don't take a bath in the bath tub with my dog (together we dont fit in) Nice dog, his, too!
4orsaorsa ...you're a lucky person !!! ...I'm in the same situation (discovering DC) and unearthing new gems everyday !!!
:) Obrigada, só tinha o "At the Indie disco" :)
