Divine Comedy, The - No One Knows Lyrics
We get some rules to follow
That and this, these and those
No one knows
We get these pills to swallow
Tastes like gold
Oh, what you do to me
No one knows
And I realize you're mine
Indeed a fool am I
And I realize you're mine
Indeed a fool of mine
Of the mind with no hope
I found low
I drift along the ocean
Dead lifeboats in the sun
Come undone
Pleasantly caving in
I come undone
And I realize you're mine
Indeed a fool am I
And I realize you're mine
Indeed a fool am I
Heaven smiles above me
What a gift can be love
But no one knows
A gift that you give to me
No one knows

like this bands music wY back and still sound good
this guy looks like a mix of daniel radcliffe, daniel craig and vladimir putin xdd
@Lena Flannagan I can see where you are coming from comparing his voice to Morrison's. If you listen slow Doors songs like 'Love Street' and 'Tell all the people' there is definitely a resemblance but I don't think Neil Hannon could scream like Morrison did on songs like Back door man ' and ' Not to touch the earth'.
i don't know any of the songs you mentionned,i don't like "slow songs" of Morisson, maybe "people are strange",but that is all,i think, honnest
@Lena Flannagan You not a big Doors fan then eh? I love every record The Doors did. Every single one was magnificent. The Doors were unique.
i do love them !
Hahahaha hahahaha
genious stuff, ok so hanlon seems like he is up his own arse, but his stuff is real, there is so much fake shit out there right now, I love 'a lady of a certain age', love any tune got soul
I think he's very self-aware with that ego, he definitely was when he was trying to be a star but at this point he pokes fun at himself (at this concert he even says "oh look at him, back with his ego again.")
nice new meaning he tries to give this,
guy's quite cult
why the banjo 5 min odd. everthing else i love.
My only complaint is the levels on the vocals.
fucking rubbish!!!!
I would listen to this just for that story
the best thing these fuckers ever did was "my lovley horse" from father ted.
10guitars , Yes and if he'd represented Ireland with it at the Eurovision with Dermot and Ardal they could have been amongst the Hall of Fame Irish winners, dana, and Johnny Logan (twice) I'm just thinking if the UK will be spared the usual 0 point as perhaps the panels may decide we are no are no longer Europe, here's hoping.
just a question, the history of "heinz wolf" is real? but i don't know
no one knows
No one knows when or where the 8 people above had their sense of humour removed
great version, but I miss coked out of his mind josh speaking during the song
meeting neil in a few weeks , looking forward to it !
@Mista117 lol pompus was the only word i could think of, i was just being a prick. anyway.... ive been a guitarit for about 8 years, theres nothing better on earth is there?
@RcEdits No, 3 and a half years. that and i had to compare this to the original as part of my diploma...i only put as a guitarist because the original is a rock band therefore if i put what i put without it its just another person who knows nothing about music or orchestration. it wasnt meant to sound pompus, plus who uses the word pompus anymore...
@Mista117 as a guitarist? you made that sound really pompus, have you been a guitar for like 5 minutes?
check out Andrew Balkwill - No One Knows
Neil Hannon is so wonderfully quirky he's more quirk than man.
He speaks so sincerely I believed him about the Heinz Wolff thing for a second.
As a guitarist, i really like this... its different but good different :)
This is a wonderful cover, and gives what is already a fantastic song a huge amount of depth "Violin!"
Mosquito song with an orchestral vent would be amazing.
@jiok84 please tell me you didnt just write that comment. you thinl people dont know this isnt queens of the stone age? do you know what the purpose of a cover is????
i know he was only joking but i bet Josh still wants to punch him in the nose.!
amazing! the haters are pure heavy rock fans..
In my opinion sucks a lot
Hmm...maybe a team up of The Divine Comedy and Queens of the Stone Age? Just a though.
I tried to find the original he mentions but just kept getting vids of cats on pogo sticks.
i love queens of the stone age and the divine comedy, this version is fabulouse!
@spikeirl fuck queens of the stone age? fuck you.
that's really awesome! neil hannon is the most charming person in music
seeing them at somerset house in july. im massively happy.
@jiok84 Though I agree 100% with everything you said, I must point something. TDC is not a rock band and their music is not supposed to be rock. This is a cover, and I don't think it's supposed to sound powerful as the QOTSA version. It's a very funny version of a very good song just for the pleasure of singning a good song.
Both versions of this song sound good, at least to me
great great great!!
Incredible version. Simply brilliant !
Of course he's joking, Josh Homme made that song.
Neil has made me learn how to feel again.
Great musician and poet,
But he does talk a load of shit
shite crowd
I laughed...
I was at a Divine Comedy gig a while back and his amp was going a bit funny so while they had to fiddle around with it he started playing "Postman Pat, Postman Pat... Postman Pat had a black and white cat...".
He's lovely irl, according to my sister! She told him that I've always said when I have a song in my head the National Express always makes it disappear, to which he replied "Oh yes, just replace one crappy song with another!"
I love Neilly. :)
Yeah, he's just joking around with that story. :)
Very cool rendition. What's he talking about before they play the song though? Am I just not familiar with his sense of humour? I'm pretty positive Josh Homme and Mark Lanegan wrote the song...
wasnt that impressed sorry.
OUTSTANDING!
excelent o c*ar*alho !!! o gajo não sabe cantar********
Queens of the stone age rulam
Genioussss!!!!! Awsome man!!!
I take it back. I really like it. It's grown on me. Don't you mean 'You're a moron?'
good version but his singing is awful
LMAO ! Excelent!
Oh my god i am literally cumming buckets
This is amazing, I don't know how anyone could really disagree with this? His voice really does a lot more for me than Josh Homme (as much as i love the QOTSA) and I love its folky element. More please!!
It's interesting how well the song translates over. Took me aback somewhat. Good song, in both permutations.
I absolutely love this version, as do the QotSA version.
I think what i love about this version is you can individual pick out the notes where in heavy rock they are very clusted as 'power chords' I think its a fraction slower too. Oh come on it makes Banjos cool!
I mean im a massive fan of DC (come on bring out some new stuff though) and found QotSA via this cover. Weird that!
Oh and for the record, nothing is ever 'better' then the original.
It's shocking...it's muddled and awkward and at best, really doesn't suit the divine comedy.
Just because they have a small orchestra it doesn't mean you automatically have to say you like it more than the original....it doesn't make you a better person.
Jesus Christ, I think this is the most awful and abrasive thing The Divine Comedy have ever managed to produce.
I'm a big fan of QotSA, and I have to say, this was just amazing.
Just brilliant, 5 stars. wonderful version of it.
this is pure class exellent
Genius.
I didn't quite like this o.O
I loved the idea, but.. this was just, a little boring.
This is a song by QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE from an album called SONGS FOR THE DEAF,it rocks...
stupenda
awesome version, genius
Took me a second to realize he was kidding about the heinz wolf cabaret writer originally writing the song.
great man brillant version
I am glad you found this. You will be pleased with the rest, I hope.
Je pense que c'est vrais, Alannathegirl.
