Divine Comedy, The - Eye Of The Needle Lyrics
They say that you'll hear him if you're really listening
And pray for that feeling of grace
But that's what I'm doing, why doesn't he answer?
I've prayed 'til I'm blue in the face
Distinctly at odds with the theme of the sermon
And during communion I study the people
Threading themselves through the eye of the needle
I know that it's wrong for the faithful to seek it
But sometimes I long for a sign, anything
Something to wake up the whole congregation
And finally make up my mind
The cars in the churchyard are shiny and German
Completely at odds with the theme of the sermon
Squeezing themselves through the eye of the needle

a very special album unsurpassed
as a life long fan of neil hannon and his time with the amazing divine comedy / tolby tolbot i feel i can say that while regeneration wasnt the best album they ever made it was better than the follow up albums, bang goes the knighthood was at best a weak collection of b-sides that dont compare to the earlier work which is sad because the first 3 albums (not counting fanfare for the comic muse because neil himself didnt like it and you have to respect that even if it wasnt what he would become) were the best although the "£peak" was fin de sicelce

Neil Hannon genius.
Love this song
A spectacular song
Reminds me a bit of 'Whiiter Shade Of Pale'
A much more spooked and ghostly version though...
There's a song that the chorus melody is taken from and it's driving me mad trying to find out what it is.. Any one know it?
It reminds me a lot of "Isn't She Lovely" by Stevie Wonder.
'it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of an needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven'
There's not one DC album I don't find essential. Thanks.
