Divine Comedy, The - Dumb It Down Lyrics
You've got a personality
We'll throw you in the sea and watch you drown
Dumb it down
Your concentration span's too long
It's longer than this song, that's not allowed
You don't need books to know what's what
We'll pile them up and burn them to the ground
Dumb it down
And if you say that we're corrupt
We'll round you up and run you out of town
Dumb it down
Down and down and down it goes
Where it stops nobody knows
And not a lot of people seem to care
We can all communicate
But no one's saying anything out there
Is there anybody out there?
Intelligence is dangerous
A virus of the brain you pass around
Dumb it down
We'll vaccinate each boy and girl
Lobotomize the world through sight and sound
Dumb it down
No one can tell you what to think
And if you think that's true then you're a clown
Dumb it down
'Cause freedom's wasted on the free
You just don't see the beauty all around
Dumb it down
Down and down and down we slide
It's too tricky to decide
Between channels one and sixty-three
'Cause everything is mindless fluff
Like this world's not dumb enough
Does anybody feel the same as me?
Is there anybody listening?

Bout time they said it's so stupid how this isn't seen or noticed as a good song. Not too pop, not too complicated, but who the hell cares? It's been coming but i just wish this band got it's accolades, like a Grammy, like a K, or a god give this band a life time award. :(
Um Well I think their best album is Bang Goes The Knigthood because they adopt a more solid sound. Here, for me, this song sound like a little mess, hard to follow
This entire album is quite extraordinary and sadly it failed to ignite much interest and sold quite poorly causing Neil to go back to dressing like a fop again ( I couldn't give a fuck how he dresses - he's just an incredible singer/lyricist ) and also into dismantling the band .... Even the superb production by Nigel 'Radiohead' Godrich was unable to elevate this great record to full public attention.... I have all of the D.C. albums and this and Fin de Siecle are my favourites .... but there are no ordinary albums at all, they are way above that... Time to soak myself in some gin....
you're right this is 2015..holy fuck!
Jesus Christ.....I'm seeing posts from a year and beyond, for this vid. No one seems to care! We are FUCKED!
I see that one person has Thumbed It Down.
Brilliant song, fantastic lyrics. Their best album, in my opinion.
oh the guitar, the bass, it's glorious!! :')
This and Timestretched are my favs from this album.
Tis a lovely album :)
I'm listening. Not sure what a prole can do about it though. I'm still using oldspeak for f**ks sake.
That's why I do think rock music is more reliable than cinema. It's one of the most honest forms of expression ever.
@PlaystationLounge BIg TRUTH
wowwwwwwwww
This should have 6. ...billion views with all heads rushing to A LIBRARY before it's all burnt down and washed into the flowing sea
@PlaystationLounge Here in the U.S. as well, but most of my "fellow Americans" have shit for brains anyway.
google the vigilant citizen and lenon honor
This song reveals the truth about the prevailing manipulation
We ought to consider ourselves as putty
that wants to stay clean and useful
Probably my favourite song lyrics. Sums up most media output here in the UK.
